Vehicle Detail
I am the second owner and this vehicle has never been in commercial service. It was a one private owner vehicle when I bought it from the Mercedes dealer in Bethesda, MD in July 2010. I have always used it in a 5 passenger configuration leaving room for a large cargo area. Two more rows of seats are included. They have been in storage since I bought the vehicle and are in excellent condition. Including the driver, there are seats for a total of 12 people. I have included a copy of the vehicle data card showing exactly how the vehicle was configured from the factory (See photo section). I have added a Kenwood stereo system which includes DVD, Navigation (Garmin based), Bluetooth, Sirius satellite radio, ipod input, and backup camera (needs a sunshield). I have also converted the badging from Dodge to Mercedes to reflect the van's true heritage and installed running boards as well as body graphics to spruce it up a little. The vehicle was recently serviced to include a new serpentine belt, air filter, oil change with filter, rear AC compressor belt, and transmission fluid change with filter. The Michelin tires are in great shape and will last many more miles. The tire date codes are all 5012. It has never been in an accident, however it did have a scrape or two (parking lot rash) when I bought it. As a result, there is some paint work. There are also areas with touchup paint as necessary to prevent rust. These are mainly on the roof, but can be found on most any panel. As a result, the van is rust free. The interior is in good condition showing normal wear. The older woodgrain dash modification is showing its age a bit. In particular, there is a crack on the woodgrain panel which covers the passenger airbag cover. Mechanically, the van is in great shape. The only quirks I can think of are related to the power door locks and the glow plugs. Both of these issues have existed since before I bought the van. For some reason, you have to push the remote button twice to lock the doors. Unlocking the doors is normal. The glow plugs will occasionally cause a check engine light, which can be cancelled after checking the code, via a scan gage installed on the front console. Five new glow plugs and a new glow plug controller are included. I just never bothered installing them as we have little use for glow plugs in southern Alabama. That's about it. I've tried to be as honest as I can to give potential buyers a good idea as to what they are bidding on. My feedback pretty well tells the story there. This is a good looking, great running van. I wouldn't hesitate to set out to anywhere in the country in it today. I've had some difficulty figuring out what it is really worth so, I'm throwing it out there with no reserve and letting you guys decide. The reason for selling is that I just bought a 2013 Mercedes Sprinter Passenger Van. Please ask any questions before bidding. Buyer pickup is readily available from the Pensacola, Florida airport (45 minutes away). On Apr-12-15 at 09:27:16 PDT, seller added the following information: Anyone looking for further information is welcome to call me on my cell phone any time between 7am and 10pm CDT. 786-218-5344. AlanOn Apr-13-15 at 19:58:26 PDT, seller added the following information: I've had a couple of repeated questions tonight that probably should be addressed. First, since the van was originally registered in Pennsylvania, is there any undercarriage corrosion? The answer is no. I don't know if it was stored in the winter (which is not unusual up there) or what, but the undercarriage is very clean and corrosion free. Also, several people have asked about the mounting points for the additional rows of seats. Those mounting points are not visible because I have custom fit a mat that covers the entire cargo area. When that mat is removed, the mounting points are readily accessible. On Apr-13-15 at 20:28:58 PDT, seller added the following information: I was also asked if the graphics were vinyl or paint. They are vinyl and can be removed, if desired. On Apr-15-15 at 06:46:10 PDT, seller added the following information: I've had a few questions about transporting motorcycles inside the van. All you need is a folding ramp and a front wheel chock. The front wheel chock can be attached to one of the vacant seat attachment points. I have transported a full size BMW touring bike in the 5 passenger configuration on two trips. To carry a Large Harley or a large Victory, the row of three seats would either have to be removed (quick release) or temporarily repositioned against the front seats if you want to close the rear door all the way.On Apr-15-15 at 10:30:21 PDT, seller added the following information: I've had several people ask me about the fuel injectors. The injectors are under the plastic top cover on the engine and can't be seen in the current photographs. High mileage Sprinters (which this isn't) can develop an issue with the injectors that presents as a mass of black goo under the top cover and around the injectors. This is fondly referred to as "Black Death" in Sprinter circles. I recently had the top cover off to replace the camshaft position sensor. I was amazed at how clean it was around the injectors. I took a picture with the cover off and will provide it to anyone who is interested. Just give me a call or send me a message with your email address. I tried to remove one of my less important pictures and replace it with the fuel injector photo ( I'm already at the max of 24 pictures), but ebay won't let me remove anything since there are bids on the auction Also, let me clarify one thing that has resulted in some questions. By stating that pickup is readily available from the Pensacola Airport, I mean that I will come pick the buyer up at any time convienient to the buyer. I'm retired and have nothing but time.On Apr-15-15 at 10:40:53 PDT, seller added the following information: Just hit 200 watchers with 27 hours to go!
