Vehicle Detail
I am the 5th owner of 73231. I bought it in July of 2006. I have enjoyed my years of ownership driving over 8 thousand wonderful miles. The previous owner in Dallas had it maintained by Norwoods with extensive documented repairs, upkeep and general care for 73231 for the 8 years he owned it using it as a daily driver. Documented upkeep and I flew back to Dallas and met with the Norwoods staff to learn about 73231. The included paper work has photocopied purchase records going back to the original purchaser and an original window sticker from Classic Ferrari in Richardson TX in 1987. The car was sold again by Classic Ferrari in March of 1988, and again in July of 1989. That 3rd owner then kept it about 9 years until Oct. of 1998 where it was sold by Ferrari of Dallas to the 4th owner. I purchased the car from him in July of 2006 and have enjoyed it for almost 9 years myself and have driven it about 1000 miles per year on drives of 25 to 50 miles to warm things up.....but I bought a 62 Corvette and think it is time to move on. This car has enjoyed owners who have kept it up. My repair and restore in 2013 was done at Concours Automotive in La Habra CA. I have tried to point out expenses that will be coming up for you. As I talked with my mechanic, he explained if you can't afford $3 or $4k up keep per year, don't buy a Ferrari. Some years you will have nothing, and other years $10k. Ferrari Chat does have good sources of parts that are listed for more common cars that are the same and you can avoid the Ferrari superpricing. It does have the common cold 328 transmission issue of not wanting to shift into second until the oil is warm. I would rather underpromise a car that is 28 years old. It doesn't smoke and drives very nicely, but as I noted, there are continuing needs which you will need to address. The key thing that a purchaser would get is a VERY rare exterior color and a car that has been driven regularly through out the last 20 years of ownership and has had the service, repairs and upkeep that a Ferrari will need. Nonsmoker vehicle. The tool kits, jacks, spare tire, owners and warranty booklets and records are present. . Also included is a spare ignition module and full set of Tyco relays as spares. The space saver spare (needs replacing) is present with the hold down nut. The battery compartment cover has both factory nuts. I do have a battery saver trickle charger. Even the electric clock and power antenna work. Windows go up and down quickly as do the headlights and power antenna. It has an after market stereo and Boston speakers. The previously installed phone and alarm wiring have been removed, but the phone antenna is still on the windshield. The drivers seat has wear and needs a recliner repair. I have the part and the covers which I removed to show the broken recliner. These are repairables. The passenger seat is fine. A good redying treatment followed with Leathereque would make it very serviceable. Also an genuine Ferrari Parts Books with excellent drawings is present along with a CD Shop Manual and 328 sales booklet. The original gas cap is missing and has been replaced with one that says "Ferrari" inscribed on it. With the dramatic upswing in 308/328 prices I have decided to have the car for sale on other sites and will remove it from Ebay if it sells there. Recent magazine articles have elevated the awareness of how desirable these 328's are. If the sale is not completed, the car will not be relisted. I will enjoy it for another year or two to take advantage of the expected yearly 20% increase as predicted by Keith Martin's Sports Car Market magazine. Preference will be given to local buyers. If you have less than 10 feedback, or if you have bid retractions of any kind in the last 6 months you will need to contact me. AND***If you win. there will be NO further negotiation on price. With CD's paying 1% or less, you might as well enjoy a Ferrari that might at least give some increase in value and will be more enjoyable than your local bank's lobby. I am located up in the mountains above Palm Springs CA . Deposit of $2000 to Paypal and a wire transfer before delivery. No Tire kickers wanting a test drive, Craigslist scammers, etc/... No fake cashiers checks, shipping schemes, dreamers... or dreamers bidding "by mistake". Please contact me if you have interest and we can stay in touch if a nonperforming buyer jumps in.... Also PLEASE join Ferrari Chat.com. A paying Silver level is very modestly priced and their help is really valuable. Norwoods made a strong case for doing so, and I have used their forums again and again.
