Very cool 1941 International Harvester K1 pickup project. This is a genuine barn find; I pulled it out of an elderly farmer's barn a couple of weeks ago. He was a long-time IH and Case collector; he would buy what he liked, bring it home to the farm, and park it in one of his many out-buildings (barns) or put them in shipping containers. I bought a number of vehicles from him, including a '63 Scout and '59 Apache 36, both completely original, low miles, etc. which will be listed soon. This particular '41 IH was purchased from our metro transportation company in the early 70's. It's known as Tri-Met now, but back then it was called Rose City Transit *(Portland, OR is known as the Rose City). It was painted by them in the red, white, and black trappings you see now, and still has their painted door logos. It's a piece of Americana and local history, as well as a collectible International. He drove this home way back then, parked it in the barn, and went about his business farming, collecting tractors, cars, and trucks. If anyone is a classic tractor fan (Case, IH, Leyland, others, all the way back to the big steam "locomotive" models), I can help you find the tractor of your dreams. He has MANY. Also, a genuine WW2 Command Car brought back from Germany; a time capsule. Get in touch. Back to the IH; it was in proper running and driving condition in 1972, parked then with 72,555 miles showing on the odometer. The exterior still has some good shine to it, as well of plenty of patina. This truck was painted like this going back to the 40's, and while it does shine and look cool as heck, the paint is old, cracked, worn, etc. Completely failed in some areas down to metal (top of hood in spots, protected with clear coat), but no outer body rust to mention at all. It does have some rust in the passenger side floor (flat portion, center of pan, easy fix, or leave it, floor is still solid and it has its heavy original rubber mat covering it. Some dings and dents, mainly on the driver's rear fender. Has the optional high-mount side spare. Three of the wheels are the original 16" versions, the two on the front are 14's. I have had to replace all the tires with contemporary radials, as the original tube-type bias ply's were weathered beyond us. These newer radials are of smaller diameter and height than the stock tires that were it originally. The newer tires make this a roller for transport; it should have tall pie-crust bias ply whitewall tires on it for a classy authentic look. Missing rear window, cracked passenger window. Both side window regulators roll up and down properly. If you didn't already know, replacement flat glass is very inexpensive... usually $30-$50 a piece, and any auto glass company can cut it. Truck's wiring is stock, appears fully intact, and not meddled with. Should be a straightforward project getting it running and driving again; new battery, purge the fuel and brake systems, install ignition tune-up parts, etc. Has original floor starter "pedal" still... very cool. Nothing changed to speak of other than the tires, the aforementioned 14" front rims, and the heavy-duty "service" tail gate and rear utility bumper (optional, dealer installed, or ?), and of course the transport company's paint and logo. A very cool old truck; get her running again and have something you just don't see everyday... nor once a year for that matter; very rare. Clear title and bill of sale in hand. Truck is located in Vancouver, WA across the river from Portland, OR. Sold as a non-running project, as-is, without warranty or guarantee expressed, written, or implied. Shipping is the full responsibility of the buyer; I will make myself and the vehicle available for your carrier on short notice. Please be prepared to remit payment within 3 days of auction's end via major bank cashier's check, deposit into my Bank of America account, or bank wire transfer. You are welcomed call me directly at 360-936-9257 to ask any questions. Priced to sell.
