Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on the ultimate Ford 4x4, a very rare 1990 4-door Ford Bronco 4x4 Centurion Hardtop Convertible, a specialty vehicle authorized by and sold new through Ford dealerships across the United States from the late 80's through the mid 90's. This was Ford's answer to the very popular four-door Chevrolet Suburban. Very rare, with under 5,000 estimated total vehicles produced over the entire period. These began life as Ford F-150 (or F-350) four-door Crew Cab 4x4 short bed pickups manufactured in Dearborn, Michigan and sent down the road to Centurion Vehicles of White Pidgeon, Michigan for the Bronco removable top back-half and tail gate conversion. Centurion did a wonderful job; you couldn't tell anything had been done outside the Ford factory. Ford was 100% behind the program, and they were the dealership's Flagship offering during the period; very expensive, very exclusive. The program was discontinued in 1996 with the arrival of Ford's new four-door Expedition, followed by the introduction of the big Excursion for the 2000 model year, making the conversions obsolete. And now, making them very rare and collectible. Many were sold new in the Northeastern states, and due to the winter road salting, have rusted away. This was a California Bronco new, and spent almost it's entire life in dry climates, leaving it dry and rust-free. One of the coolest features of the Centurion Bronco is that like the two-door version, the full rear top section removes for open-top summer cruising. I don't believe this particular Bronco has ever had the top off. If you want to build and own one of the coolest Ford trucks ever produced, here's your chance. I have included one picture at the end of the series of a similar Centurion with the top removed so you can see how it looks... very cool! The Bronco features a newly rebuilt and dealer installed 5.8L engine with under 2,000 miles since new. The fuel injection, ignition, and other engine systems were also gone through at that same time. The steering gear box was replaced, the front suspension rebuilt, front end aligned, the four-wheel-drive components serviced, the 4-speed AOD overdrive automatic transmission serviced, brakes done, and brand-new 31" x 10.5" Wild Country radial tires were installed. A new full exhaust system was also installed at that time. Basically, the entire drivetrain and chassis has been replaced, rebuilt, or otherwise overhauled. The truck runs PERFECTLY, just like new. I just took her on a 100-mile trip and got 16 mpg! This truck is certainly reliable enough to be considered a daily driver. The previous owner had been working towards a full restoration, beginning with the mechanical side first. I have the original dealer receipts for most of the expensive work. The interior is in very good condition, with the middle- and third-row seats being excellent, as are the door panels, dash, gauges, etc. The front bucket seat cloth upholstery has some wear, and have fitted seat covers over them that closely match the original upholstery color. The headliner is not perfect, but still presentable. Missing the small driver's door panel arm rest pad, and door pocket cover, otherwise very nice and complete. The dash has no cracks, all the gauges work properly, and the truck is fully loaded with power windows (including rear), power door locks, cruise control, factory AM/FM/Cassette stereo, rear window defrost, and air conditioning. All are in working order (power door locks are "iffy," but work manually as well. Lights, heater *(including rear blower), turn signals, horn, etc. also all in proper working order. The truck is a pleasure to drive. It also features a tow package, including receiver hitch and trailer brake; perfect for hauling your big-boy toys. In 2001, the truck sustained front sheet metal damage (fender, hood, etc. and subsequently the title was marked as Salvaged. I have the receipts for the repair work performed at a dealership by the previous owner; there was only cosmetic damage done (hood, door, fender) and it was professionally repaired back to previous pre-collision condition. The owner had the forward roof section treated to a Line-X spray-on finish at the same time (receipt included) to match the texture of the factory removable hard top. The paint is not perfect; some of the clear coat has yellowed and is peeling here and there, some minor dings, dents, etc. Overall the truck appears quite straight, shows well, and definitely turns heads wherever she goes... a very rare sight on the road today. Not flawless perfect, but very good-looking, solid, reliable, and presentable. You'll be proud to get in and drive exactly as-is. OR, build her into the ultimate Ford 4x4. The work receipts, CarFax report, original owner's manual, etc. are are all included with the vehicle in the sale. This Centurion is going to make someone very happy. Please be prepared to remit payment via deposit into my Bank of America account or bank wire transfer within 3 days of purchase. Shipping is the full responsibility of the buyer; I will make myself available for loading on short notice. While every effort is being made to describe the Bronco accurately, it is in fact a 25-year-old vehicle, and being sold as-is, without warranty or guarantee expressed, written, or implied. I am not a professional inspector or appraiser, but an avid auto enthusiast who deals with classic and rare vehicles daily; I believe you will find my description very accurate.
