Once in a lifetime chance to buy an amazing car. 1977 SL retrofitted with the famous Mercedes big block - the 6.9 liter. Perhaps 1 of only 3 in the world. This is a car Mercedes should have made. I am hesitant selling this car........ My 560 powered 190SL that I had before this car recently re-sold for over $90,000. This is a much better car. I believe this body style is the next car to sky-rocket in price. The last true Mercedes sports car with chrome bumpers and without computers. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for Mercedes lovers. A lot of extra effort was made to make this look like factory made - no power bulges or scoops in the hood to make the bigger engine fit, no cutting of the body for exhaust clearance. The only indication that this is not a stock car is the oil filler for the dry sump tank and the lack of an oil cap on the cam covers. It is 100% Mercedes except for the electric fans. Always a California car there is no rust on the body, however there are several bubbles on the removable hardtop. It has the soft top but we have never used it. It is probably the original so judge for yourself what you think the condition may be. The interior was new with a 2 tone custom touch in 1996 but is now looking a little tired. The leather seats have always been covered so they still look perfect. The driver's seat is shown in 6th picture. Car was last used 5 years ago so does need some TLC. I have recently added new fuel and replaced the seized fuel pump so the car starts easily and drives. Tires are dry rotted from age but hold air. PLEASE NOTE: This is a 36 year old car. It is not a project but a complete, running, unique car. However, if you are not used to older cars this may not be for you. It is a Mercedes so if you are not able to do any maintenance or afford to have maintenance done then this car may not be for you. If you need to see more pictures email me through ebay.
