Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE 1957 International Harvester Company S-120 - 4x4 115” Wheelbase Short Bed Pickup Truck You may call me directly at 360-936-9257 to discuss the truck. Clear title in hand, ready to go. You are bidding on an extremely rare surviving example of one of the first 4x4 trucks built for the general public... a 1957 International Harvester S-120-4x4. This is a factory, purpose-built 4x4 that has remained almost completely original over the years. It sold new and grew up in the deserts of Nevada, and as such doesn’t suffer from the rust issues that 90% of these trucks have. This is a perfect truck to enjoy exactly as-is, or to restore to the next level. Ultra-rare, and so original... She’s even got her original driver’s side sun visor which has the factory line-set “build sheet” attached. I’ve included a photo. Options include the short wheel base chassis, basic cab, Adirondack Green paint, BD240 gas engine, 4.10 axles, T-10 4-speed transmission, HD cooler, large fuel tank, short bed, 115” wheelbase, disc wheels, windshield wipers, heater, and more. Pretty well-optioned and the coolest short-bed, short wheel base model in a great color. Let’s go over the mechanicals first: The hydraulic brakes have been rebuilt completely in the recent past, along with a new 10” clutch, and basic tune-up parts. It remains a 6-volt system, and starts reliably every time. The engine runs strong and smooth, the clutch remains in good working order, and it shifts well through all four gears. Steering is tight, without wander except for whatever the recent repro bias ply tires contribute, and the truck turns heads, and is a pleasure to drive. The factory T-10 4-speed manual transmission, hi/low range selector, and locking front hubs in/out selector and associated gearboxes are perfectly sound, as are axles including front factory locking hubs. She runs and drives just as well in 2 or 4-wheel drive mode. Cosmetically, I think she’s beautiful. One very old repaint in a similar green over the original Adirondack green, still shining beautifully with plenty of vintage patina. Paint has some wear, nicks, chips, etc. but has a very nice shine and patina to it that I think most prospective buyers would want. The interior could use seat upholstery over the original seat (or a cowboy blanket cover), and a headliner if you prefer, but the doors, dash, gauges, etc. are beautiful and completely unmolested. The original sheet metal floors are not at all rusty. In fact, other than surface rust here and there from failing paint, you won’t find this at all to be a rusty truck requiring “those” repairs. Some dings, dents, and scratches, but nothing major. I believe this truck was a “City of Eli, Nevada” truck for almost its’ entire life, hence the rust-free condition. Some minor electrical issues that can easily be fixed simply by updating the old cloth-wrapped wires, some of which have worn to fray. None of which preclude her from just starting up and going for a long and pleasant drive. The double-clam shell hood is one of the most unusual features of the truck. It opens from EITHER side, the latches doubling as hinges... very cool. Under the hood remains the fully original BD240 6-cylinder engine in great running condition. This truck has been used for years as a fair-weather parts runner, local Parade truck, etc. Maybe five hundred local miles or so a year, and she’s still running strong. She’s not flawless, but I believe priced fairly for such a rare and special vehicle. You can make a few improvements and have yourself a real collectible piece of IH history. You can get in, turn the key, and go relive your past. This would also be a very easy truck to disassemble, clean, paint, and restore, although she’s beautiful as-is. I’d install a seat cover, headliner, rubber floor mat, fix a couple minor electrical things, and call it good... I like the way she looks. While every effort is being made to describe the vehicle accurately, it is in fact a 58-year-old classic, and therefore being sold as-is. Clear title in hand, no issues. VIN matches title exactly for export/import into states or countries that verify. Shipping is the full responsibility of the buyer. I will make myself available for pickup and loading. Payment due within 3 days of end via direct deposit into my B of A account, or bank-to-bank wire transfer. You may call me directly at 360-936-9257 to discuss. I am open to a reasonably-close offer for an easy cash deal.
