Vehicle Detail
Time for "Libby" to find a new home! We bought the Liberty as a brand new vehicle in 2006. She has been well used, never abused, and well maintained. Never wrecked or damaged or flooded or any of the other things that people worry about when buying a used car. I have the title, and it is clear. She's been garage-kept all her life and doesn't leak. She runs extremely well, still has lots of pep, and handles just as stiff and rough-riding as the day we got her! We are non-smokers, and there is no odor at all to the Jeep. The air conditioning works perfectly, as does the four wheel drive system. The interior is in pretty darned good shape for a vehicle born in 2006. As we are a no-children family, the back seats have barely been used. There is some staining on the passenger seat, as you can see in the photo. I told my wife that her drug (coffee) habit was dangerous, but she never listens to me. She overturned her mug on the way to work one morning. We cleaned the seat as well as we could, but you can still see the stain. There are two problems of which we're aware at this time. First, the check engine light came on over a year ago. We took it to a mechanic who informed us that the Jeep wasn't going into the upper overdrive gear. He said the solution was to rebuild the transmission, but his recommendation was to just drive the Jeep the way that it is due to the cost of a rebuild. And for over a year now, that's exactly what we've done. She doesn't get quite as good gas mileage as she used to... 17 to 18 MPG now as opposed to 20 before. On the highway at 60MPH, the tachometer shows 2,000RPM. So, the overdrive gear to us hasn't been that big of an issue since most of the driving was local, non-interstate travel. And the fact that we've driven her that way for over a year seems to indicate that, aside from the gas mileage, there are no other side effects. The second problem I know of is quite minor: The indicator light showing what gear you are in (4 wheel high, 4 wheel low, or 2 wheel high) is out of alignment. When you are in 2 wheel high, the indicator light shows 4 wheel high. This is only a problem with the lever position sensor, NOT a problem with the 4 wheel drive unit. It easily and solidly goes into whichever gear you wish. The paint is completely original and has no rust. There are a few small chips on the hood from road use though, but nothing serious or major. The rest of the body is in really good condition, with just minor dings that you really have to search for to find. Regarding other mechanical things: We've taken really good care of the Jeep as far as routine maintenance goes. Oil changed every 5,000 miles, clean air filters, etc. New front and rear brakes were installed about three years ago and still have a lot of life left in them. New tires were also installed about two years ago; Pirelli Scorpions. More than half of the tread life is left. She also has a nice Sony CD/mp3 AM/FM stereo deck and upgraded speakers (Pioneer, I believe). There is no reserve on this vehicle, and the opening price is very far below the blue book value. I believe this would make a great starter vehicle for a teen-aged driver, or for a commuter who needs to get to work in all weather. The Jeep lives in Salem, Virginia. If you are the high bidder and you live in the Roanoke / Salem / roughly 30 mile surrounding area, we will consider driving to meet you at a public location.
