1966 Chevelle SS 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport for sale. This is a true California Chevelle SS built in Fremont. The story behind this car is as follows. This vehicle was restored to showroom condition in the late 1990’s early 2000’s. It has had a few minor changes that make it a non-numbers matching vehicle. The 396ci big block is believed to be the original motor however during the motor restoration the serial numbers proving it were partially lost from the front of the motor. The original power glide automatic transmission was swapped out for a turbo 350 transmission. The vehicle was sold in show condition to a buyer that didn’t know how to care for a beautiful car and it was stored outside to endure the weather for nearly 15 years. During that time the paint took a beating and peeled back from the sheet metal in spots. I was told that the Dupont paint used in the restoration was defective and had adhesion problems to the metal which can be seen in the photographs. The spots of missing paint are not due to corrosion and rust, it’s due to defective paint. As you can see in the close up photos, the sheet metal under the paint is solid and intact. All the panels on the car are straight as an arrow and bondo free. Included are numerous photos of the floorboards and trunk to illustrate how solid and rust free this car is. Make no mistake, this car will need to be painted, at very least the hood, roof and trunk lid, but the body remains solid. The restoration was a complete and frame off including powder coating underneath. As you can see in the photos, this saved the underneath from being outdoors for so long. Degreasing and pressure washing should make it clean up with ease. The odometer currently reads 114K. This car is being sold “AS IS” with no warrantees or returns. This car runs and drives beautifully with an abundance of power. It fires up first time everytime.
