Vehicle Detail
Only 69,800 miles on my 1999 LS400 and I am the second owner. I purchased this car from a Lexus dealership in Texas, where the previous owner lived. Kelly Blue Book has the car valued at $8356 for good condition and $8503 for very good condition, which I would place the car at somewhere between these two figures. Even fair condition is $7815 so you can see how good my price is. What makes this car such a good deal is all the updated service work I have had done. Here is the list with all items having been done in the past 1,000 miles: * New timing belt (standard service). * New water pump, which is done when one changes the timing belt. * New starter. My starter was acting up on me so it seemed prudent to change the starter while the engine was apart for the timing belt. * Flushed radiator because of new water pump. * New upper and lower radiator hoses since radiator was flushed. * New thermostat while replacing hoses. * Oil and air filter changed (standard service with NAPA Gold filter used). * Differential fluid changed (standard service with Royal Purple used). * Transmission fluid and filter changed and cleaned (standard service). * New NGK iridium plugs (standard service, Lexus recommends iridium plugs). New battery as mine would only hold a charge for a couple of weeks. New hood struts as one was worn out. New windshield wipers (standard service). The tires are at approximately 7/32nds with 10/32nds being a new tire. The spare is full size (original) and has never been used. The car gets approximately between 22 and 24 miles per gallon in town. The seats are in great shape along with the interior. The brake pads are at approximately 50% for both the front and rear. The spoke wheels came with the car as I received it. I have receipts for work and/or parts listed above along with a clear title. Some negative points include some fading of the wood on the interior, the driver’s window sometimes activates the driver’s door to lock when the window goes down, the trunk has some minor bumps in the paint, the bumper has some scratches in one area, the front windshield has a wear mark for when a defective wiper was used, the hood shows signs in one area of the clear enamel wearing out, the rack and pinion steering boot needs replaced (have boot, but have not replaced). Just a tip, but before you buy one of these older cars ensure the timing belt has been changed and you can document when. Do not take comments like “It should have been done,’ “It was supposed to have been done” or “The previous owner said it was done.” Get a receipt as to when the belt was actually changed. If the belt goes out it would be very costly. OK, with all the servicing I have done why am I selling the car? Well, I no longer need two cars and want to pay down my VISA card. The car is only driven once a week as I use my other LS400 for most of my driving. When I worked the car was only used as a back-up vehicle. Obviously I want to get more than my opening bid; however, I will go with whatever the market will pay. I also have the car listed on autotrader for $6,800 and will pull this listing if it sells there without any Ebay bid being registered. Let me know if you want any additional pictures and I will do my best to accommodate.
