If a 1974 Suzuki TM400 in restorable condition is something you have been searching for, this may be the bike for you.This bike has spark, compression, it turns over, but not freely, my feeling is it needs crank bearings.Although I was only able to shift it dry, it did click through all the gears, I saw no signs of metal in the oil when I drained it.The frame is in very nice condition on this bike, no dented lower frame rails, I see no sign of damage or previous repairs.The swingarm has had two shock mounts added to it, the stock mounts are in place. Many, but not all the original Suzuki "S" bolts are on the bike.The engine cases, including the clutch cover, counter shaft sprocket cover and ignition cover are in great shape, no gouges or scrapes in them.One top fin of the cylinder, on one corner is bent slightly. The pipe is an after market item, it has a small patch in the front.The forks are straight and clean, the lower legs show no signs of gouges or scrapes.The tank is in great condition, still on the original paint with two shallow impressions on it, both very small.There is no rust on the inside of the tank and the air-box is complete.The front wheel is original with a sizable nick on the edge of it.The rear rim is not original however both hubs would be usable if you are building new wheels.The throttle is original as are both levers and perches, the levers bolts still retain the castle nuts and the cotter pins.The seat pan is solid and rust free. The foam is firm, the cover is nice as well.The carburetor is clean, the cables all move smoothly and appear to be original.This is a great bike for someone with restoration experience, plastic parts are readily available as are the engine parts you will need.The bike overall has a solid platform and is certainly worth the effort.
