My wife and I bought this 2005 Element from CarMax in 2006, have enjoyed it as a daily driver as well as for longer trips to go biking, kiteboarding, etc. The car has been well-maintained and garage kept for the entire time we've owned it (except for a couple weeks last month after we bought our new car), with all the regular servicing and routine oil changes. We didn't clean or wash it often though, and put a bit less emphasis on worrying about aesthetics, so there are the expected scratches/scrapes (mostly inside) that you'd expect in a car with 90k miles. It's super easy to load stuff, through either the side doors or the tailgate, so you can fit a couple of bikes inside, or a bunch of kiteboarding gear, etc., without difficulty. We bought aftermarket roof racks to add to carrying capacity, and also bought an aftermarket carpet pack that helps keep road noise lower than it is when bare. It has a brand new catalytic converter, since unfortunately, during the time it was outside for a couple weeks last month (when we had our new car taking its spot in our garage), the catalytic converter was stolen. While we were getting the catalytic converter replaced, the repair shop did a full inspection and found nothing needing attention or replacement (brake discs had a bit of rust, but just because it hadn't been driven in a couple of weeks). We live in Chicago, in the South Loop, where the car was garaged for the time we owned it, but it is now in Winthrop Harbor, IL 60096, with my in-laws, where it can be seen, test-driven, etc. Winthrop Harbor is about a 75 minute drive north from downtown Chicago.
