Vehicle Detail
I am listing this truck for a friend of mine who doesn't have internet, so I'll have him take it from here on - For auction is a 1997 Chevy Tahoe, 2 door, 4 wheel drive. It had about 74 thousand miles on it when I bought it and I have put about that many mixed miles on it in the last 8 years or so. Its been on 500 miles trips between Illinois and Wisconsin, where I bought it, its been driven between my rural village and the capital city and its been run between small towns. It has always been on the road, never off. It has hauled kids around for sports and been to the grocery store. While it is hitched, the only thing I ever pulled was a small utility trailer. It is a solid and reliable truck that I would hop in and drive anywhere. It rides good, tracks straight down the road and shines nicely doing so. Its a nice driver, on new, quality BFG rubber. Mostly, it speaks for itself but I will do some pros and cons. Pros- Its been well maintained and responsibly driven. 4 wheel drive used in winters. It sits on brand new BFG rubber and it has a Jasper transfer case with about 6 thousand miles. It got new Ujoints and axle bearings hunting a faint grinding noise. That's where the transfer case comes in. I did front brakes a while back, new rotors. Idler pulley, tensioner pulley and serpentine belt all replaced. Water pump replaced, cooling system switched over to regular green antifreeze at intake gasket repair time. New injectors last January. Alternator and battery have both been replaced as well, though both a couple years ago. There was the hoses replacement venture as well, upper and lower radiator and power steering... Mechanically, this truck is as sound as any get in the used market. It starts good, runs good and drives good. Drivers seat is great. No rips no tears. Other seats likewise. No cracks in the dash or door panels. Cons- well, it is a 1997 and it has been through kids. While nice, it isn't perfect. First, it had fresh paint on it when I got it. It shines nicely but the right rear wheel well has some paint bubbling. I would guess there was a repair there before I got it, but who knows, the whole truck was painted. It has one pretty good scratch on the bottom of the driver's door and two dingers (one on the drivers door and one on the passenger side rear barn door). A pesky neighborhood kid with a bb gun. grrrr. Chrome wheel well trim also has some dingers, cant avoid parking lots forever. There are some rock chips here and there. Inside, there is a knob missing from the CD player, treble I think, and the CD player only plays factory CDs, nothing burned. There is a handle missing from the passenger side seat. Carpet is good, but it has seen winters and kids football games. Oh, and the latch on the center console is broken. Door opens and closes fine, it just doesn't "click". OK, so maybe I didn't really need to write this as I did, instead choosing "nice truck, new tires, blah blah blah" and left it at that. But you know what? When I was looking to buy this truck, I wanted something besides just a run of the mill car ad. I wanted to see if a seller had the stones to beat up their own sale. Do you know why? I was looking for a bit of honesty. Here is some more of that now. I put this truck up for auction without a need to sell it. It is paid for and harms me zero to let it sit. Its not being driven now because it doesn't have to be ( having a blast playing with my older pick-ups right about now). I would rather it continue to sit than to just give it away. While not perfect, I have taken care of this truck, and that is worth something. It doesn't use any fluids and it doesn't drop any fluids. When something mechanical needed fixed, it got fixed. I have tried to nitpick it as I would if I were buying, but hey, if you can find more things wrong, good luck with that. Seriously, you can drive this truck anywhere you want to go, worry free. In the pictures, what you see is what you get. All that said, this is a cash sale. It will take cash in my hand for you to drive away with truck and title. Its a local pick up only as a result. I will not ship. I will not accept personal checks or bank drafts. Sorry, it is what it is. Winning bidder will pay a 250.00 dollar PAYPAL deposit within 24 hours of auction ending, with the remaining balance of winning bid due upon picking up the truck and title within three days of auctions end. This truck is for sale locally too and a sale would obviously require a cancelling of this auction. I will be traveling, so the pick up date IS strict and unchangeable. As my buddy is kind enough to list this for me, the best way to get questions answered is to text me directly at (217) 741-8645.
