Vehicle Detail
1998 Land Rover Discovery LE Vehicle has been sitting since last fall. Pictures are current as of a month ago. I purchased this vehicle from a family member, drove it 40 miles and the engine threw a rod. I replaced the engine with another 4.0 from a 1997 Discovery with 150k miles. The replacement engine started but the idle was rough and would stall out when gas was applied. I have since run out of time to get it road, or off-road, worthy. Battery is dead and I have not attempted to get it going since last fall. Before installation of the replacement engine I replaced both the rod and main bearings. Vehicle has new NGK spark plugs, Bosch Premium wires, Fram air filter, Muffler and mid pipe. Tires appear to have few miles on them but are old and may need replacing due to evidence of cracking on the sidewalls. The body is aluminum and in great shape with only a few dings on the hood most likely caused by falling acorns. The door jambs are not aluminum and the door jambs are rusting. The driver's side rear door jamb has a hole through it. There is another hole in a small section in the engine compartment. Both appear to be easily patched. The paint is good but has oxidation in areas. The majority of which is around the taillights. The oxidized areas look like bubbling and and there is some cracking as evident in the photos. The interior looks great. You can see there are a few marks on the leather seats from where I left a new set of tires sitting on them for too long. I imagine it can be cleaned off. One of fog lights needs replacing. My plan was to buy the lower bumper without the fog light cutouts and omit them altogether. The tabs on the front bumper cover which holds the front license plate broke off which is why you don't see the cover in the photos. To the best of my knowledge everything on the car was in working order at the time the engine blew. The previous owner kept all service records and receipts which are available. Vehicle sold as is.
