Vehicle Detail

I am reluctantly offering my 1986 Ford Mustang GT T-top up for sale. I searched for this car for quite some time and found several that were beat and hacked beyond repair. Then a few years ago, I found this 48K original mile survivor that was a two owner car. The mileage is documented on the title from 2005 as 41000. I bought it from the second owner who had left it in the sun which killed the paint and the second gear synchro was bad. I am a diehard fox body enthusiast so I bought this great car and returned it to greatness. It was originally bought at a David Ford Mercury Lincoln in Keene, New Hampshire. It was purchased by the owner of the dealership who later sold it to the second owner in 2005. I bought it in 2012. It is a fully equipped 86 GT T-top 5 spd. No accidents, no rust, and is great condition now. I had very little to do to make it nice. It is a car that I always wanted but due to my recent discovery of a 1987 Buick Grand National, I must part ways with this great car. I will take you on a virtual tour of the car. ExteriorI had the car repainted two years ago. I installed all new graphics and emblems. The paint job is excellent but not perfect. There are a few areas that need to be color sanded to make it near perfect. There are also a few tiny chips that I touched up. The graphics were correct, as were the emblems. The wheels could use a good scrubbing and polish but they look good the way they are. Some of the charcoal grey trim needs some minor touch up. All of these issues are an easy fix. The car has tinted windows, the rear glass tint is bubbling and should be redone. The fog light covers are missing but can be purchased on Ebay. The tires have a ton of tread but are starting to weather check from age. They ride smooth but I would not venture on a long trip with them. I would rate the exterior a 8.5 out of 10. InteriorAll original upholstery and carpet are near perfect, no stains or fading. Non smoker car. The original dash has no cracks, the door panels are nice, as are the rear panels and storage area carpets. The second owner had two t-top inserts made to protect the interior from sunlight, they basically black out the glass panels, they are included with the car and are an awesome idea that I should have thought of myself. The original retractable cargo cover is present and perfect as are the t-top storage bags. Overall I would give the interior a 9 out of 10 MechanicalThe engine is perfect, smooth and powerful, it runs like a raped ape. I had the transmission rebuilt, it shifts perfectly smooth. It has a new starter, solenoid, clutch, front struts, rear shocks, all new brakes, full Motorcraft tune up, fuel pump and some other items I forgot to mention. It has a short throw shifter and Flowmaster mufflers, those are the only mods done to this car. The AC is ice cold and the heat works great. I would rate this car a 9.5 out of ten. Overall ConditionHere is exactly what this car needs to be near perfect. Door lock actuators, headliner is a little tired, t-top weatherstripping is getting a little tired as well, tires, fog light bulbs are blown, map pocket is a little stretched, some more minor color sanding and trim touch up, and the gas gauge works about half of the time. Oh and the painters lost the antenna base cover. None of this stuff is an emergency, the car looks awesome and drives awesome without touching any of these items. This is an original low mileage documented Mustang that can be enjoyed immediately. I have owned over 30 fox bodies and this is the best running 86 I have ever driven. Please look at the photos and I do have a short video of the car running that I will link. I drove it about 20 miles before the photos were taken, if it were not for the fact that I found a grand national that I always wanted, there is no way I would sell this car. The car comes with the original owners manual, one original set of keys including the t-top lock key, and the warranty card. I am offering this car at absolutely no reserve, the highest bidder gets it. It would make a great gift for the holiday season. If you have any questions, please call me at 941-720-0300, my name is Jason. Happy holidays and happy bidding.
