U C-6 Select Shift Automatic Transmission Your vehicle was equipped with the following features: - Closed Crankcase Emission System - Exhaust Emission Control - GT Equipment Group - Electric Clock - F70-14 Wide Oval White Sidewall Nylon Tires - Console - Power Steering - Air Conditioner - Selectaire - AM/8-Track Stereo Radio - Tinted Glass - Styled Steel Wheels This car features Ford's legendary FE-based big-block engine wearing C7AE-A 14-bolt GT heads, and an original factory aluminum Police Interceptor high-rise intake manifold with a nice 4v Holley on top. The previous owner was convinced that this car had a 428 swapped into it; it could indeed be a 428 Police Interceptor engine. The casting numbers are correct for both the original 390 GT engine, as well as a 428 Police Interceptor engine. The intake adds evidence to it being a 428PI, but it could have been added later. I don’t know any way to tell for certain without the block being divorced from the transmission, which isn’t going to happen. So, plan on an excellent-running, numbers-correct 390, but you might indeed be getting an excellent-running 428 PI. The car runs like a beast; very powerful and fast. The C6 automatic transmission shifts strong and solid; no engine or transmission issues. The power brakes work well, and the car has a new master cylinder on it. Power steering also works perfectly; the car is a pleasure to drive. Headlights, tail lights, brake lights, interior lights, wipers, heater, fan, and gauges are all in proper working order, except for speedometer. The car came with A/C, but no longer has the equipment under the hood. The black interior is in excellent condition, with virtually no appreciable wear or damage... nice dash pad, upholstery, carpet, console, etc. Very nice interior; I’d give it a 7 to 8 of 10 overall. The exterior color was originally Jamaican Yellow, and is now black. This is a good-quality repaint with zero rust issues on the car... the paint is not perfect, but is a sound paint job that still shows nicely. I would say it’s a “10-footer” in the common vernacular. The trunk is also very nice, and shows a new coat of trunk paint over a virtually rust-free surface. The ONLY evidence of rust anywhere on the vehicle is one small area on the lower driver's door where the paint is beginning to bubble slightly; very minor and the paint is unbroken. The wheels are chrome five-spokes with Cragar SS spinner caps, wearing decent older radial tires. The exhaust is full dual all the way back, and sounds good. Doors open and close smoothly, glass is all good, windows roll up and down smoothly, chrome and trim is very nice, and the car is a reliable turn-key runner/driver. Overall, this is a very good-looking, powerful, fast, and nice running/driving first-year Cougar that is guaranteed to turn heads everywhere you go. I’ve priced it fairly so that someone can enjoy the car as-is, while making some further improvements along the way. What does it still need? The headlamp doors are not operating automatically; the vacuum system will need to be gone through. They open smoothly by hand, and stay up at night (lights work properly), and stay down in the day. Just flip them up when you need lights, if you don’t want to fix the vacuum operating system. The tail lights work, but the sequential unit doesn’t... common problem and an easy fix. The speedometer is not currently working; it’s either a cable issue or a gauge issue. The GT side fender emblems, and the Cougar side quarter panel emblems are included, but were not reinstalled after the car was painted... your choice to install them, or not. Rear backup lights are not present in the rear lower valence. These are ALL the issues I can find on the car. Clear title in hand. While every effort is being made to describe the car accurately, it is in fact a 47-year-old classic, and therefore being sold as-is, without warranty or guarantee expressed, written, or implied. Shipping is the full responsibility of the buyer; I will make the car available for loading with 48-hour notice. Please be prepared to remit payment in full within three days of auction’s end via bank to bank transfer, deposit into my Bank of America account, or major bank cashier’s check *(must wait until physically clear before releasing car or title). You may contact me at 360-936-9257 with any questions you may have. I am always willing to end an auction early for a fair offer. Good luck, and happy bidding!
