I am selling my extremely rare 1981 Chevy LUV diesel pickup. I hate to part with it, but I need the money. This thing is in amazing condition for its age, and I calculated the MPG at 44 for highway driving and around 30 for city driving. It starts up quickly on the first crank and on the second when the engine is cold. It starts, runs, drives, and stops great, and the sound of the engine is beautiful - purrs like a kitten! I get a lot of compliments on it all the time, and I'm very conflicted about selling it. I hope it will go to someone who adores these little 80s diesels as much as I do and understands what a rare beauty this truck really is. The owner before the person I bought it from was an Isuzu fanatic - this Luv is the exact same as an Isuzu Pup - and it's obvious that he really pampered it. Here are the details: The good: Nearly zero blemishes in the interior, including the seat. The paint is new, the front brakes are new. It has a great-sounding CD player stereo with an auxiliary jack and a subwoofer behind the driver's seat, although the subwoofer currently needs an amplifier in order to work. It has a block heater included which makes it start instantly in the morning. There is a canopy, and two studded snow tires are included with the sale mounted on wheels that are identical to the wheels on the vehicle. This vehicle also runs great on biodiesel and is currently running B20. I advise changing to synthetic fuel lines before running higher concentrations, but that's an easy and cheap thing to do. The bad: It leaks a bit of oil, maybe a quart between oil changes. There is a crack on the dashboard above the steering wheel. The chrome bumper is slightly curled in on the passenger side. There is a tiny rust spot near the driver side head light. The interior light, license plate lights, odometer, and wiper fluid don't work. The driver side front tire does not match and the others are low but still okay. The rear brakes are at around 25% - fine for a bit longer per my mechanic and not urgent at all. I am nonetheless including the new brake shoes in the sale along with rear axle seals. I intended to replace these myself but haven't had the time. The ugly: This is an extremely cute, rare, gem of a truck. You may never find another one in such good shape. Nothing ugly about it! Questions? Photo requests? Please let me know!
