Vehicle Detail
Here is an opportunity to own a truly nice fox body Mustang. All original, not beat up, and all stock but not so nice that you cant drive it and enjoy it. It looks brand new from 10 feet away, it runs and drives great but it could use some minor things done to satisfy that inner tinkerer in you. This car was recently bought from an auction, it had been in storage indoors since sometime in 2005. It was owned by a Navy Lt. who apparently went overseas and never drove the car during that time. I acquired the car, as I have owned many of these over the years. I installed a new battery, changed the oil, put in an excellent used gas tank, checked all the fluids, and it fired right up. I have driven it and it runs like a scalded dog. It has all original paint, its perfectly rust free, and its one of the most honest Mustangs of this era that I have ever seen. I will walk you around this car and categorize my observations. ExteriorThe bright red original paint is in amazing good condition, the paint on the back bumper is slightly faded, there are a couple of very minor dings. The wheels looks perfect, the original headlights are in great condition and all exterior lighting works perfect. The windshield has been replaced at some point and still retains the Navy and Dept of Defense stickers as well as an inspection sticker from Va. dated 2005. All of the trim looks good and the original Ford top boot was in the trunk, it is flawless. There is a small split in the bottom left of the rear bumper. The convertible top is original and the car was stored with the top down, there are some small holes where the top rubs the frame on both sides. The top will need replaced at some point but its no emergency. All of the weatherstripping and window scrapes are in good condition. Overall, I would rate the exterior of the car an 8 out of 10. InteriorOriginal black leather car. There is some wear on both front seats, normal for its age. There is also a small tear on the drivers seat. All power windows work, the ashtray is not quite broken but its not perfect either. The dash, door panels, carpet, are all in very good original condition. Of course the map pockets are stretched but any good auto uph. shop can fix that easily. The radio was aftermarket but its long gone, the original radio harness is intact and it would be easy to update the radio. Overall, I would rate the interior a 7 out of 10 MechanicalThe engine and transmission are flawless, no fluid leaks, perfect shifting, clutch is effortless and smooth. The air pump hoses have been bypassed for some reason. The brakes are a little noisy but function well, I suspect this has to do with the long storage period. The shocks and struts should probably be replaced. The steering is tight and smooth. The tires are flat spotted but that improves every time I drive it. The airbag light flashes, I suspect a bad clockspring which has been the case with every fox body airbag car I have ever seen. All gauges work. Overall I would give the mechanics/functionality a 8 out of 10 OverallThis car would take little time and effort to make it absolutely perfect. It would make a great winter or father/son project. It is the highly desirable red with black leather interior. It can be enjoyed immediately the way it is and those that have seen it in person comment on how gorgeous it is. I have owned worked on and sold many of these fox body Mustangs over the past 20 years and I must say, its one of the nicest cars. Its a good one. Sale includes one original set of Ford keys, owners manual, warranty card, original top boot and storage bag, and a Jiffy Lube receipt from March 2005 showing 93XXX miles which basically document the mileage and storage history.
