Vehicle Detail
I am re-listing this TR6 as the previous buyer from France has made no attempt to pay the deposit or contact me concerning the purchase-This sale/auction is for my very well kept & maintained '76 TR6 I have owned for over 22 years. I bought the car in April 1992. It has been a fair weather driven car under my ownership, always garaged and never driven in the winter. I've put only 30,000 miles on the car and it now shows 145,000 on the odometer. I've kept the car serviced and well maintained thru the years and have receipts from The Roadster Factory, Victoria British, Coker Tire & others that total over $12,000! This TR6 has always been kept well mechanically and has great compression of between 125-140 across the board, 80 lbs. oil pressure cold @ idle & 50 lbs. @ idle hot, leaks very little oil, and has never been rebuilt! The car was carmine red (maroon) originally. In Sept. '95 I decided to have the car painted and change the color to mimosa (yellow). What I expected to be a 3 month job ended up taking almost a year and a half. All four fenders, both floorboards and outer rockers needed replacing it turns out. The complete interior was removed for this and while awaiting return of the car I had the seats, diaphragm, and foam re-done & ordered new carpeting and complete interior panel kit, all (4) crash pads and trunk liner kit. The original walnut dash facia was pretty good and I chose not to replace it. The car finally came back from the bodyshop in Dec. '96. It took over a year longer than I expected due to labor problems and mis-communication between the shop foreman and myself. Anyway, it was worth the wait as the car turned out very well! It is nearly impossible to tell the car had a color change. The trunk, engine bay, interior, door jams we're all painted very nicely-I even had a new trim/paint tag plate installed to the driver's door jam showing the new paint color (64). After installing the interior and new trunk panel kit, I decided to improve the ride and added a rear tube shock conversion kit which really helps the ride. I also installed a set of wire wheels and new Michelin redlines from Coker Tire I purchased before they discontinued them. I drove and serviced the car with regular tune-ups, oil/filter grease change, new Midas exhaust etc. until June '05 when the clutch was replaced. It received new clutch disc, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, clutch fork & shaft, clutch master cylinder, hose & rebuilt clutch slave. The chrome bumpers are the originals and have decent appearance but due show peppering of the chrome finish. Most recent service has included over the past year; flush radiator, new thermostat, new radiator cap, new radiator duct, new hoses & anti-freeze. Also new positive battery cable, new battery, new wool moquette door seals, new door waist seals(inner & outer), new wiper blades & windshield trim & clip set (windshield does have 1 wiper streak) and new sun visors. Just this July, I replaced all (4) brake hoses, installed rebuilt fr. calipers, new pads and rebuilt wheel cylinders. I also did a major tune-up; spark plugs, rotor, condenser, points, dist. cap and plug wires. At the same time I replaced the accelerator shaft bushings. This TR6 still has it's original convertible top. It has shrunken but has no rips and the windows are clear so I have not replaced it. It mostly stays down when I drive it. It also comes with original boot & tonneau cover in like new condition The Snugtop aftermarket black vinyl hardtop is in excellent condition as it never really got used except for the 1st fall that I had the car. I have new rubber seals for the hardtop also. The paint/bodywork is now almost 18 years old and overall looks very good. It has a few chips & nicks and a few bubbles have appeared on the corners of the door thresholds-not bad but need to mention as they do not show in the pictures. Everything shown is included even the car cover. I also have a stack of manuals, receipts and knock-off tool that also go with the car. As can be seen in the pictures this TR6 does not have an antenna, radio or speakers-I don't think it ever did. I think all this car needs is a new convertible top and bumpers re-chromed (but really not bad). I'm only selling because I have to have room & cash for a Sunbeam Tiger project. Thanks for looking & bidding!
