I’m the second owner of this car; the first owner was a mature woman who purchased the car in Oklahoma. She drove the car sparingly, particularly as she got older and had some medical/aging issues to deal with. I found her handwritten “service log” when I was cleaning out the glove box - clearly she was a fairly particular owner. When I bought the car in July 2012, it had about 15100 miles on the odometer. After several discussions with the dealer who was selling it and a check of the CARFAX history, I flew to Oklahoma, inspected and purchased the car, added some Techron, filled the tank, set the cruise at 70 and drove it home to Georgia in 90+ degree heat. My only concern was the age of the original tires - lots of tread but 16 year old rubber. Nevertheless the car performed perfectly - cold A/C, cool running and no hiccups at all. Once back in Georgia, I took the car to my favorite Ford dealer where they went through all the systems, changed/flushed the fluids, put in a new serpentine belt (I’d made the run from Oklahoma with a new spare just in case) and replaced the links on the rear sway bar. Total cost of this basically preventative service was almost $800. A few weeks later new Michelin tires were mounted and about a year ago I had to replace the battery. I put in slightly better speakers but have also kept the original speakers - no cutting was involved. I drive it on nice days and wash/wax it now and then and otherwise it’s always garaged. In the 2 plus years I’ve owned it, I’ve driven about 1600 miles, including the trip from Oklahoma. Because it’s driven sparingly (and ethanol-laced gas quality these days is generally suspect), I add STA-BIL to the tank when I fill it up and gave it another Techron dose this past summer. The car is White Opalescent Clearcoat with Portofino Blue cloth interior. The paint is near 100% perfect as is the interior. Major options are the 4.6 V-8 engine, Sport option with 16” wheels, Power Driver’s Seat, Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel and Keyless Entry (the original sticker is included with paperwork). It comes with an extra set of NOS front floor mats, a new (unused) car cover and I’ll throw in some bits and pieces I’ve acquired along the way but never used (very nice White Opalescent OEM rear wing, Mustang front calipers & rotors and spare serpentine belt) and a factory service manual. I’m selling because I’m downsizing to a single car and I really don’t want to use it as a daily driver - to me it’s just too original and too nice, but that will be someone else’s call to make. Is it a collector car? Maybe, maybe not (although it IS insured with Hegarty) but if you like the car, it’s a good opportunity to get a super nice example for cheap $, all things considered. I’m sure I left out something so contact me with any questions. There are no excuses and no stories - just a totally unmolested, original ‘96 T-bird. I have receipts for the service work I’ve had done, the original owners manual, and a few pieces of old paperwork. The reserve is set for less than I originally paid - pretty reasonable I think. For sale locally so I do reserve the right to end the auction at any time. The car is sold as is, where is & no warranty is expressed or implied.
