1988 BMW M6 VIN – WBAEE1415J2561166 This is a well-loved, and well maintained, local Northwest BMW M6. There were just 1,767 of the North American market M6’s produced during the 1987-1989 model run. This 1988 car is a great example of this enthusiast bred car. Includes full BMW factory tool kits, all original owner's manuals, first aid kit. The paint appears to be all original factory paint on every panel, with all factory VIN stickers in place on each respective panel. The paint is in good overall condition, with some chips and scratches, but lower than would be anticipated for the age and mileage of the car. Based on overall age and condition, I would rate the exterior at 7 out of 10. The interior is in very nice condition, with the front seats having been recovered a few years ago (nice work, decent match to factory leather texture and color). Everything in the interior works – power seats, all four windows, sunroof, radio, on board computer, all displays, lights, etc. Overall condition is a solid 8 out of 10. Mechanically, this car is solid. The car starts right up hot or cold, with no smoke, no hesitation, and no leaks. While the mileage is on the higher side at 246K, the car has been very well maintained over its life. Recent work in the last 15K miles, including a sizeable service in October 2014 (all with receipts) has included a full top end rebuild of the cylinder head, testing and flow matching of injectors, new clutch, new main relay, cruise control module, transmission reseal, new guibo, new interior seat gears and motor, shift bushings, engine mounts, coolant hoses, belts, tie rods, thrust arm bushings, throttle body boots, crankcase gasket set, valve cover gasket, power steering hoses, and other misc, items. Brakes are good at all 4 corners and the tires have less than 10K miles on them. Overall, I would rank the mechanical condition of this car at 8 out of 10. The minor items that the next owner might like to address – the power antenna does not work currently, and the driver’s side power headrest does not work. Overall, this is a good honest car that presents well and can be enjoyed right now that does not need much. It creates conversation at every fuel stop or grocery errand. Just has a great old look to it that people appreciate. On the road the car performs as expected of a great GT car – smooth and powerful, with a comfortable ride.
