Vehicle Detail
1957 INTERNATIONAL METRO MILK TRUCK STEP VAN! This is a very cool former milk truck with cool, retro art deco styling. There are only a handful vintage step van models still around and in this good of shape. This is the IHC S120 model and was the most popular size. These have become very popular with rodders and make great rolling advertisements. They also look cool chopped or lowered. There is plenty of room in the back to stand up and put cooking equipment, speed parts, t-shirt shop, coffee truck, donut truck, etc. This truck has a nice body and has no rust. It has the original air-force paint and you can see that it has no Bondo hiding anywhere. The truck is in a storage facility in Montana and I am in Alabama. MECHANICAL The Metro has, what appears to be, the original six cylinder. There hasn't been at attempt to get the vehicle running and may need a rebuild to get it running, but you never know... The radiator and fan are gone. Carb, air cleaner, etc. are still on the engine. Transmission is still in it. Only three hubcaps are included. Tires hold air. The van rolls and steers. These vans are easy to convert to a V8 automatic setup. It can be done with an independent suspension front clip off a Chevy pickup and then you have a modern setup with better brakes, steering, power, ride, and auto transmission. The Chevy front clips are cheap and readily available. I don't know if any lights or anything work on this van. It's never had a battery in it. The speedometer is gone. BODY The body is very nice for a project. No rust through anywhere. The body is not perfect, but pretty straight. It has a couple spots to iron out. Nothing very bad but the front drivers corner needs to be straightened out. Rear doors shut and latch. Side doors open/close with effort. They need to be taken out and lubed up. The rest is pretty basic. Original paint. No bondo. Floors, frame, main body, roof, etc. have no rust. Quarters and wheelwell/wheelhouses are nice. The normal rust spots on these are around the windshield, rear quarters, and the panel under the grill. These areas are nice on this Metro. There are a few of these Metros for sale on the net at any time and usually do not have original paint and are hiding some Bondo and poor bodywork. With this one, you know exactly what your starting out with. No holes cut in this metro either. Many have had windows poorly cut in and stovepipe holes. INTERIOR The pics tell the story. Seat post is there but seat is gone. The seats all kind of look the same but the older ones may be a little more period correct. It's easy to fabricate one also. They are pretty basic. Interior panels are all in it, and uncut. OVERALL This is a great Metro to restore back to original or have one of the most unique rods at the car show. Either way, they get lots of attention and have great resale value. This van is sold as-is. It is an unrestored project. Thanks
