1979 Volkswagen Riviera Bus Pop-Top Camper After many days of thinking I've finally decide to list my beloved bus. It is the hard to find Riviera Camper version that is very unique in design and just few of them around, you will see lots of Westfalias but rarely a different camper configuration. I have owned more Westys in the past but now comparing with my first Riviera just found out that I really like the better roomy and well configured interior of the Riviera. Bigger refrigerator and cooktop close to the sliding door, easier to open pop-top and nice top sleeping area just to name a few features. This bus is just awesome !!! Found in Oregon and purchased from an older guy not being registered since 1995, always stored indoors and condition reflects that. 62,XXX miles presumed to be original. Now after a new fuel system refresh with many new parts including but not limited to a new gas tank and new VDO gas sending unit the bus is back to the road since last year running like a champ visiting many campsites around California. Clear title and registration up to date with California plates. You can take this bus to any smog check station and will pass the test flawlessly. I will make the best effort to accurately and fairly describe this vehicle to you: CAMPER EQUIPMENT: - Original Pop top system with original canvas in great condition and all window zippers in great working condition. - Second bed in pop - top. - Electric Norcold refrigerator complete but do not know how to operate this, it has on and off knob switch inside. - Original cabinets in great condition. - 2 burner cook top in working condition just missing the on-off valve. - Sink and faucet with grey tank. - Folding table. EXTERIOR: - Straight original body. Never being in an accident. - 99% rust free. Clean jack points, frame rails, wheel house archs (dog legs), front floor and rocker panels. - Original pop-top mechanism (really easy to open, better than Westys). - Resprayed body in original chocolate color (L86Z). - Minor dings and dents. - Will need new tires in the near future. - Original glass all around except for windshield. Mosquito screens at both sides. - One key works with all doors to lock them up, separate key for start switch. INTERIOR: - Clean original dash with 62,200 miles. Previous owner was an older guy who stated they are original and him to be the second owner. - New front floor mat. - Front and rear seats in good condition upholstered in tan velour material and vinyl (It seems to be original upholstery material from factory) - All cabinets in great condition. - Front headliner in like new condition, no minor rips or tears. Immaculate!!!!! - Rear headliner also in great condition, super clean. - Audiovox AV3000 stereo-cassette player not hooked up. ELECTRICAL, ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION: - All electrical system working as it should be. Working headlights, tailights, brake lights, reverse and turn blinkers. New lenses front and back. - All interior dome lights working. - 2.0 liter Fuel injected engine running as a champ. - $1200 repair made to the fuel injection system replacing many new parts and including but not limited to a new gas tank and VDO fuel sending unit (Have receipts to proof) - Tuned up including new hydraulic lifters. (Have receipt too) - This bus passed last smog check with no issues at all because the engine is in excellent running condition and it has all the original components from factory. - I would not hesitate to take it on a cross country trip as it sits now. - 4 speed transmission and reverse, none of the gears pops out at any time. Shifts very good!!- Suspension is great, it drives awesome at 70 mph on freeway.- Steering wheel has no play at all !!!! In general this is a great bus ready to drive around town getting many thumbs up or take it to the mountains for those camping trips. Another observation: In regards to the front screen on top yellow canvas, I think this Riviera model never came with front screen as the ones in the sides because the canvas itself doesn't show any alteration.
