Vehicle Detail
This pick-up is a super nice old truck. My girlfriend and I bought this almost a year ago to personalize as we both love classic vehicles. We wanted to buy some new Cragars for it, 15X10 rears and 15X7 fronts, add dual exhaust with nice sounding mufflers for that 70's look. We browsed ebay's old Ford trucks and found that if we lowered truck and added 18 inch wheels we could flip it for twice my reserve price. But winters coming, out of "project money" with no place really to store the truck. First things first, the man we bought truck from said it had been his uncles truck and was an Arizona truck until brought to Washington whenever that was. He had repainted truck, but is no professional. Its a very presentable looking truck. I waxed the truck and it gave it a nice shine. The interior was originally red but badly deteriorated and dried out from Arizona climate. I gutted interior and washed the floor at kick panel area and it cleaned up amazingly, NO rust ! I also washed all painted surface in cab then applied a coat of Turtle Wax. I replaced circuit panel on back of gauges and installed a new clear lense and bezel. I replaced all gauge bulbs with 168's so they would be brighter. I also took apart heater box and washed it up then installed a new heater core which works exceptionally good. I replaced the red steering column with a black one and installed a new turn signal cam so that works. Horn works too. I bought the entire set up for windshield washer and that works good too. I removed the entire AC system as it was dried out anyway. I never got around to finding plugs for the firewall after removing those AC hoses. I installed the aftermarket gauges which are mechanical, the ones hooked up are oil pressure and temp, so those are not being used in the original gauges. I can not get the fuel gauge to read correctly after I removed the second tank under body, I removed it to make room for a true dual exhaust. Speedometer and Amp gauge work just fine. I installed one of those made to look original AM/FM radios which is actually digital when turned on. A wire that is suppose to be a constant power on radio is tied into the keyed power source because a light in radio would stay on. I called the manufacture of radio and they said it was a problem with unit - I said the hell with it. It works fine but no memory. Under seat is an amp with a built in subwoofer plus 2 dash speakers made for this dash and then 2 custom speakers in each corner of back of cab, I made the enclosures and work great. You do have to put slight pressure on gearshift handle in the park position to start, I did not replace safety neutral switch. My feedback is what it is for selling because I give DETAILS unlike alot of sellers Ive noticed with only a few sentences for description. So this will be a long read but NO SURPRISES and you will know whats going on with truck. I replaced original seat because foam was horrible. I found another seat in excellent condition and recovered it in black. Dash pad was a used one I bought here on ebay and has 2 small impressions but no cracks and interior is just so nice now. It is lacking a headliner. Steering wheel is a 14 inch but I think a 15 inch would be perfect. Instruction manual for amp and stereo are in glove box. Thats about it for interior. Engine - is a 390 2 barrel. Original carb was just shot so I tossed it for the brand new Holley on it now which was designed for a Ford engine. It is not finely tuned but does work excellent. It has a manual choke which I hooked up the pull part nice with a factory Ford bracket in cab. When I bought truck, somebody had made some kinda goofy linkage so I bought correct stuff and all works good now. At some point, I dont know when, but I think its both cylinder heads have been replaced with remanufactured heads. The truck runs so good and so smooth, effortless. Has a cracked exhaust manifold on passenger side but you can not hear it, you actually can not hear truck when running. Has a super wimpy and small single exhaust on it which I had planned originally to installing a nice dual exhaust but now I need to send truck to someone else who will love it and fix up to their own taste. Transmission lines have been spliced a few times I dont know why but I bought a new pre-bent set that will go with truck. Transmission shifts smooth and very nice no problems. Radiator burps coolant upto a certain point if you fill to the top, according to mechanical gauge, its running around 160 and thats it - never over heats plus heater works great. I did buy a really nice used radiator to replace one in truck but havent gotten to it, it will go with truck. All electrical works, all lights etc, except cigarette lighter. Brakes - I installed rear axle bearings, I cant remember if both or just one, and definitely both seals. New wheel cylinders on back and I believe I replaced fronts as well as new shoes and two front rubber hose brake lines in front. New drums on rear. Still air in lines as brakes are a little spongy but work. Body - Front passenger fender has been off truck for whatever reason, it was not properly lined up for the body trim to flow the way its suppose to so that needs adjusting. I replaced original galvanized rear bumper with a new chrome one and replaced front bumper too. Has brand new Goodyears all around on 15 inch stock wheels. It is currently licensed and can be used as you finish fixing up. Very reliable and great running truck. If it doesn't sell for my measly reserve, then I guess I will have the truck for this spring. Its truly a lovely pick up and with sudden popularity of this style of truck, I thought somebody out there would just love it !! The bed is only stained, NO RUST IN IT, just needs a good scrubbing and a rhino lining. No dents and no holes. Matter of fact I was going to drill 2 drain holes at front corners of bed for a drain but haven't. It will hold water ! Thats about all I can think of, I have tried to be as thorough as possible as I realize a potential buyer can not be here in person to look it over. If you have any questions, please give me a call or e-mail me because again, I don't want anyone to be disappointed if I forgot to mention something important. 360-550-6332 and my name is Wes ................ this truck is being sold as is in as is condition. My zip code for shipping quote is 98310 On Oct-16-14 at 08:01:22 PDT, seller added the following information: I don't know whats going on, but I have gotten a couple of e-mails from ebay members about my truck. I have responded but I got e-mails back saying " mail returned " meaning when I reply, you do not get my response. I dont know what this is all about. For the man who asked for pictures of the underside of truck, I am sorry I wont be able to do this until after auction ends. But I can say the underside of truck, cab and bed are rust free with no under coating. It is clean and dry. Frame is dirty with surface rust but no rot.
