DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER ! You are looking at a true shed find of a R 50/2 B.M.W. with only 10,000. miles. Some years ago a friend sold me the contents of a garage he owned. Within was this sleeping machine. True, it had some aging, for having been stored for so long. I took it to one of the most respected B.M.W. mechanics on the East coast (name provided to wining bidder). I instructed him to go completely through the machine which he did at a cost of 2,200. dollars. When he concluded his mechanical refreshment he informed me that the bike mechanically was a true low mileage machine. It now runs flawlessly ! The winning bidder can ride it in its "oily rag condition" as the British say, or clean it up aesthetically. In addition, upon taking possession of the Beemer, I took it to a lock smith and had the tool compartment opened. To our amazement, a totally virgin tool kit, factory tire repair kit, with a factory B.M.W. emblazoned official shop rag. The seat is in excellent condition and comes with the appropriate luggage rack. I have the original mirror, the glass needing replacement. The specimen should go to a home of a serious collector who wants a totally original machine. The exception being the exhaust nuts, which are larger than factory installs. The mechanic surmised that this was done for greater heat dissipation. There will be no disappointments with this machine ! Reserve is set at 5,500.
