Vehicle Detail
Sort of a barn find that I brought back to life, but have run out of time, space and patience. Twin SU carbs, header. The good:- evidence of very low miles on the 1969 2L since it was reconditioned by previous owner, apparently after throwing the timing chain. Head was obviously rebuilt as evidenced by fresh valve guides, clean ports, fresh chains and gears and anti-rattle upgrade to tensioner. Fresh cylinder cross-hatch.- I replaced all valves after it appears to have been mis-timed when re-assembled by previous owner. So it didn't go too far then.- most of the original parts are there, interior not too bad, seat bottoms are in sad shape. Looks like the original rear compartment mat with factory embossing.- runs great, shifts great, no oil burning, stays cool. Have videos of the car in action throughout the past year or so.- just replaced all the clutch hydraulics The bad:- passenger side frame rail is rusted pretty bad. It was the side that was by a hole in the side of the garage. I suppose a sane person would not consider it driveable. But it has not moved since I've been driving it. And I am not a putt-putt driver. It has been driven vigorously.- body not so great. Was yellow and PO reprinted red. Thick paint, but a bit of peeling too.- the passenger side front caliper has started leaking badly, rendering it not road-worthy. You have to use the e-brake. Considering they're drums on the back, driving it would be just for moving around or getting it on a trailer.- drips oil from the back of the pan, sometimes.- carbs could use a rebuild, shafts seem a bit loose.- I've been running it from a gas can in the front footwell as I haven't taken time to check tank status. The fuel lines and connections on it are new (looking) though, and tank does not seem rusty. But probably had old fuel in it that has since dried out.- title is in limbo. Original 67 title got semi-destroyed in the trunk, but have all pieces of important info, vin, owner, etc. I have located and talked with the PO's elderly wife. He passed away years ago, and I haven't been able to convince her to get a duplicate title. Her son is the trustee of the estate, and is willing to, but he cannot convince her either. I keep working on it every so often. I do have a good title from the '69 donor car though.- one wheel is missing one of the hubcap retaining tabs, so only three hubcaps are on. So there it is. Use the drivetrain for your own low-windshield (65-67.5) conversion, as drivetrain for your high windshield (68-70), or..... On Sep-30-14 at 11:54:42 PDT, seller added the following information: I have both data plates too, and lots of extra parts if desired. On Sep-30-14 at 23:03:59 PDT, seller added the following information: Pictures and a video at here and more videos on my YouTube channel "NoNameRacing". ALSO: NOT ALL the parts shown at early pics are even still around, so don't interpret those parts pictures as what is included in this auction, they're not. As stated in the first question, those pictures were taken either at the garage I found it, or a couple years later while still in storage at another garage, not yet running or with much beyond investigative work done.On Oct-04-14 at 09:06:15 PDT, seller added the following information: Lots of questions through pm, so I added some more pics of the dash pad and frame. The dash pad is really nice, the three pics I added show the only blemishes. The fame pics are self explanatory. The first ones are the passenger side, the others are the driver side. If you have trouble getting to the other pics on the website, email me. My internet has been horribly up and down the past month or so. It cloudy now, and apparently that throws time warner into convulsions as it's been worse by the hour.
