1989 Ford Mustang LX Convertible - 5.0 Liter This car is a great example of a Fox-Body Mustang convertible; it is all original, with the exception of the convertible top, which was replaced a couple of years ago. The rear window is glass, not plexiglass. The paint still has a fair amount of gloss, should shine nice with a good buffing. There is a small ding behind the passenger door, and a small spot of surface rust behind the driver's door; there is another small rust spot on the trunk. Aside from a couple of scratches, the rest of the paint is in pretty good shape for a 25 year old car. The top looks like new and works fine. The interior is in very good shape, the driver's seat has a separation on the outer edge of the back, pretty common and should be a fairly cheap fix. It is needing new weather stripping around the windows. Carpets are good, no holes or stains. It has had new break pads and a new water pump within the last three years. The car handles well, doesn't pull; tires hold air fine but it will need new ones soon. The only two things I can find that don't work are the power locks and the rear windows; I have not had time yet to determine if it is a fuse or bad switches. These Fox body cars are getting more and more rare, and it is getting really hard to find one that is in good original condition, with no accidents or body damage, or rust-through. It starts right up, no smoke at all; idle is a little rough at low RPM, new plugs would likely fix that. A/C needs charged. This car needs very little to make a great daily driver, or would also make an solid candidate for a custom ride. NADA on this model ranges from 4900.00 to 7500.00; this car is in much better condition than many others I have seen recently.
