Vehicle Detail
Hello, I'm losing my storage, so selling my beloved Benz. At one point I had a collection of 8 vintage cars of various makes and ages . . . . this one is the one I chose to keep. But now I'm losing my garage space and I can't stand to see it sit out side, so here we are. I bought this 300D a few years ago from a "Mercedes guy" who used it as a runabout to keep miles off his '60's SL. He was the second owner, the first owner being a retired doctor in upstate SC. This is a well cared for car, not one of those nasty old neglected Benz diesels. I'll describe it as accurately as I can, but if you're seriously interested feel free to email me questions, or better yet come take it for a drive. The good: - it's been garaged since I got it, and with the exception of oil changes, has been maintained by professional Mercedes mechanics (Goose Creek Auto Werke, Stallings NC)- The paint is very presentable. It needs some touch ups, but has a nice shine to it. - There is absolutely no rust on the car. - The interior is in great shape for a car of this age. - With the exception of the details below, it starts, stops, and rides perfectly. (I wish my modern cars rode this smoothly!)- it's an interesting color combination, Pastelblau exterior, Palomino interior- $3500 worth of new parts, all professionally installed, including all new suspension, and a new set of tires- yes I would (and have) jumped in the car and driven it long distances The stuff that you should know before bidding: - the AC doesn't work . . . . common on these W123 cars, it needs a new controller and pigtail for the automated AC . . . with the windows down and the sunroof open I never missed AC- the rear windows don't work . . . . probably the wires not the motors but I've not pulled it apart to find out- the odometer stopped at 108k but I've listed it with 300k because that's my best guess based on what the original owner told me, plus the miles I put on it- like all OM617 diesels, it's cold blooded and it starts better when you keep it on the engine block heater (which is original)- the signal flasher is worn out so you have to jiggle the turn signal stalk to use the signals- it has a noticeable dent on the corner of the hood (deer strike) The car is located about 30 minutes from Charlotte NC. If you have any questions please email me. Happy bidding!
