Very original 230SL European model with only 78,822 orig. miles (126,852 kilometers documented) Matching numbers (see data card pic) Automatic - A/C - 2 Tops ***No reserve*** This is a very original well maintained and documented SL. This 230 was purchased in 1971 by a talented heart surgeon and was garaged at his desert home. She was driven very sparingly and was always maintained, serviced and garaged with extreme care until he fell ill a few years ago. As much as I love this car I no longer have the room to store it and use for my Sunday driver, as i was planning on keeping the car indefinitely. Driving this car was a pleasure and an honor. -Body is extremely straight and original. The fit and feel of the car is very pure, with very solid lines and no signs of repair anywhere on the body. The doors, trunk and hood line up and close smoothly. -Paint shines and looks good from afar but is far from good with small chips throughout. (2nd repaint) -Chrome is extremely straight and shines with no pits, dings or dents. The lower drivers door molding is missing and can be purchased new for $200 from Mercedes Benz. -Interior is in good condition and was redone along with the paint in 1989. The seats are in excellent shape and feel good, door panels are sagging a bit over the years but are uncut . Weatherstripping and soft top need replacing also wood trim needs a fresh coat of varnish. -Engine starts effortlessly and has excellent power and compression. Idle is smooth and consistent, overall runs very strong and without fail. recently tuned up and serviced. -Transmission shifts smoothly and is very solid and dependable -Electrical seems fine but some connections are loose as the cigarette lighter is no longer working. The aftermarket radio should be tossed asap. A/C works and needs a charge to cool -Suspension is smooth and solid but needs some servicing. The tie rods are original and need replacing ($65 each MBZ) -Rear axle is fine but the cv boot needs replacing as it has worn over the years ($135 MBZ) I encourage anyone interested in bidding to contact me to make an appointment for a viewing.
