Vehicle Detail
Classic 1966 Ford T-bird hardtop landau. 94k miles Runs well -- lots of power from the 390 Cu. In. V8. Engine burns no oil; all fluids stay up at full level with no leaks. I have owned this car for 12 years and mostly restored it. I have:replaced the compressor and upgraded the A/C to the current environmentally safe refrigerantreplaced the carb, intake manifold, rear differential gears, tires, driver's power window motor, exhaust manifold gaskets, driver's seat vinyl cover and seat foam, and starter.had exterior body rust in the quarter panels professionally repaired (with new metal welded in where needed, then smoothed and painted to match) The tires are a couple of years old and have less than 2000 miles. The battery is good. The passenger floor is solid. Glass all around is clear and only has a few scratches. Minor items not functioning: four-way flashers heater temp control (stuck at coolest setting -- likely broken or disconnected cable inside the dashboard). Since I never drove the car much in the winter (to avoid road salt), I never bothered to fix it. Here is a complete list of what needs attention as far as I can see or could be improved when you have a chance:The most concerning issue is the driver's side rear corner of the trunk. There is rust in the trunk floor pan there (seen in one of the pictures), and a few small holes have rusted through. There are also a couple of holes in the metal lip that holds the trunk rubber gasket in that corner. Someone who can weld may be able to fix these himself. The side panel driver's side above the rear wheel has a small ripple. This is the way I got the car in 2002, so my guess is that a dent was popped out there but no body filler was used to smooth before the car was painted. Since it is not rusting and the paint is not bubbling, it never bothered me enough to get it fixed. I would just leave it alone. The handle on the side of the passenger seat does not attach to the shaft. My guess is that the seat bottom is not the original for the reclining seat but rather the standard seat onto which a prior owner added the reclining seat back. If you hold the handle in place and pivot it, the seat back will recline as it should, so the mechanism does work. The front seat belts are not installed. I am including a set of replacements that I got on ebay but never got a chance to put in. The vacuum-controlled under dash AC switch (which turns on the AC compressor clutch) has been bypassed. These switches are hard to replace and they are prone to failure. I have it wired to an electrical DPST switch. This simply means that you have one extra switch to flip when you engage the AC. The AC works fine and blows cold air. All four power windows work. The driver door small vent window does not open as far as the passenger door vent. There may be something blocking the gear. The switches are getting tired and will likely need to be replaced at some point. But they all work now. The key lock barrel is not connected to the locking mechanism on the passenger door so you cannot unlock the passenger door from the outside. But the lock itelf works both manually pulling up/pushing down the button and when you push the remote vacuum switch on the console. The vinyl on the inside door handle on the driver door is cracked. So it doesn't look as nice as the passenger door's inside handle but you certainly can pull the door shut. The center cap in the "swish" trim on the side of the landau roof shows interior cracking. you don't notice that until you get to within a couple of feet of the car. The one on the other side is fine. Sale includes some extra parts (including additional hub caps, new vinyl for passenger seat, and windshield wiper motor parts plus a full Ford service manual for the car). I also have a second front passenger seat that is in decent shape. There is no reserve.
