Vehicle Detail

Here's the story. I bought McCarthy in the mid-90s and happily drove her around LA until about 2003 when the master cylinder went wonky, and instead of fixing her, because I bought a house, which needed much more fixing, I stupidly let her sit. Then I got a divorce, so that was another project. Flash forward, it's been ten years+ and she's still sitting. She'd had some nice work done, pumps and hoses and brakes and new wide whites put on her. A real strong runner and head-turner among those climes between Hollywood and Pasadena. But now it seems instead of fixing her I've bought another very different old car, which will take up lots of driveway space, so it's time McCarthy go to someone who'll treat her right. From what I remember of her story, I am third owner, I bought her from a woman who'd son had purchased the car from the family of a noted physician in Pomona. Odds and ends: There's a scrape above the windshield and one along the side; but not dents, really. Judge via the pix. Note the tires are quite soft. They were brand new when she got parked. Don't know if, once reinflated, they'd be roadworthy; I'm told they would be. Also, I have no idea where the key is, she'll have to be rekeyed. The front wheels are locked up and we moved her out of the garage with a pair of auto wheel dollies -- I will provide those to you. She has a clean title and new registration. The od reads 82,625 and I have no idea if that's with a turnover or not -- but there isn't much wear on the rubber on the brake pedal, which is a tell-tale sign if a car's been driven a lot or not. The chrome is good but could use a molasses wipe, as that's what I'm told removes that surface rust. Doesn't look to have gone deep enough to pit. (And oh yeah, if you ever see the great PBS documentary "Muddy Waters Can't Be Satisfied," she has a cameo motoring down the road!) She is located in Los Angeles, in Highland Park -- just off the 110 fwy between downtown and Pasadena. Feel free to contact with any questions or for further pix. (Also, bear in mind some of these pictures were snapped right after I'd hosed her off. She's not usually so shiny. That one of her with the trunk open is a little truer to reality.) On Sep-15-14 at 14:33:11 PDT, seller added the following information: Had a couple questions -- which master cylinder, brakes or clutch? The brakes -- that is, I'd had new shoes/pads put on the drums and not too long after the brakes went soft. I was told it was the brake master cylinder that needed attention therefore. (That's why she got parked.) Also, was asked, what do I mean by the front wheels are locked up? More to the point, it's likely an axle issue. She rolled around fine ten years ago, but when we moved her out of that garage seen behind her, the front wheels just didn't want to roll for whatever reason. I can't tell you why, other than something gummed up over time. Hope this clears up and questions you might have, and keep 'em coming!
