Vehicle Detail
1960 Ford Crew Cab, short box-step side, 4x4, diesel, 5 speed. SUPER RARE Orville Metal works cab. I bought the old truck as a project and have left the body in as purchased condition, keeping the patina and needed work. I mated it to a 1990 ford f250 Diesel chassis that was shortened 17" to match the old bodies wheel base. The chassis had 140K, and is a 7.3 Navistar IDI with a ZF-5 transmission. The axles are stock units (independent front, 10.5 rear) and are 4.10 ratio. I simply fabricated new body mounts and sectioned /stepped the firewall back to fit. So you get the looks of a 60's, with the ride and dependability of a late model running gear. I also sectioned a steel floor into the bed as the wood was gone. All the gauges work, i.e. speedometer, fuel, temp--warning lamp for oil/gen. All the glass is good but the side glass shows alittle delaminating. There is not a stick of weather strip in the doors and the headliner is not there. The front seat is out of the '90 and the rear really needs a shorter extended cab type seat as the old Chevy seat is only sitting in there and is really too big with the in cab tank. Typical rust for the 57-60 Fords with patch panels readily available( lower front fenders, cab floor under front mount brace, one cab corner, spot on both rockers . The most significant is the rotted front cab mounts and the ancient damage that was repaired in the left rear door. I've driven the truck all summer and am ready to move on to the next project (i.e. wife says it's time to go). I've put a couple thousand miles on and get around 15-16mpg on average. It sets up rather high on 315 Dick Cepek's, and makes smiles and thumbs up everywhere it goes. It runs down the road good and easily makes 75mph. The truck is titled as a 1960, with a Wyoming state issued VIN#. This was done to LEGALLY combine a 1960/1990 into a legal conversion. I'm sure I've forgotten something, so don't be afraid to ask. When was the last time you've seen one of these??The truck runs out well is has been dependable all summer. I've taken it on a couple in-state trips that are about 100miles per leg with no issue. That being said, it is capable of interstate travel ,all be it a bit loud. It's a running, driving, titled project, needing a new owner and completion. I can be reached at 307-315-7919 if you'd like to speak to me in person. The winning bidder is responsible to arrange shipping. I will require a $500 deposit within 48hrs of winning bid, and would like the thing off my property the sooner the better.
