This is a complete frame-off restoration of a 1973/77 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40. It was completed with my son over the course of about 2 years. This is a fully restored Toyota FJ40 Landcruiser. It is mostly original equipment except for seats, exhaust, bumpers, distributor, roll cage, shocks, lifts, radiator, heater, etc. Virtually, every piece, part, nut/bolt was taken apart, cleaned, repaired, restored or replaced. Please read full description below and see pictures for details and condition. FRAME & UNDERCARRIAGE Everything was removed from the frame and dismantled including body, doors, hood, fenders, glass, hinges, etc. The frame, body and most of the parts were sandblasted and then primed and painted. Note: The front fenders have black undercoating on bottom side, which is not shown in gallery photo.ENGINE & FUEL SYSTEM Engine: 1978 2F (4.2 Liter), In-line 6-Cylinder, 135 hp @3600 rpm (mileage on engine unknown) Electronic Ignition (2F HEI Distributor w/ Coil) - Improves engine performance and engine start almost immediately New spark plugs and high-performance plug wires Engine professionally timed & tuned Carburetor professionally rebuilt and tuned/adjusted Fuel tank was removed, drained, cleaned and repainted Carburetor professionally rebuilt, tuned and adjusted by Jim Chenowith (FJ40 carb rebuilding expert) New thermostat and gasket New oil pressure sensor New fan/alternator belt New speedometer cable New engine seals and gaskets (front and rear main, oil pan, valve cover, water pump) New Man-A-Fre Lightning Strike high performance HEI distributer with built in coil K&N high-performance air filter FRAME & UNDERCARRIAGE Straight, clean, and in excellent condition. Frame and undercarriage painted with Herculiner protector DRIVETRAIN & SUSPENSION Transmission, transfer case and both differentials were checked for proper function and all fluids were drained and replaced All seals replaced, including engine rear main, transfer & differential case and transmission seals New clutch pressure plate, disc, pilot bearing Rebuild front locking hubs with new seals New polyurethane boots on all tie rods & re-greased all fittings New heavy duty HFS steering stabilizer New steering rag joint New Shocks (Front & Rear) - Rancho New polyurethane leaf-spring bushings installed on all spring pivots Anti-Inversion Tri-Shackles Heavy-Duty 1-1/2” lift front and rear Aluminum castor angle adjustment shims added to front axle Shifting and functioning of all gears is smooth and solid Checked all ball joints and steering stabilizer refurbished New wheel bearingsEXTERIOR Parts sandblasted, primed & painted, inside and out with a high quality commercial grade 2-part epoxy primer, paint & sealer Note: The paint job is not perfect and has a few scratches from 4-wheeling. The original color of the body was Sky Blue but now it is a Safari Tan color (not the Toyota FJ40 Sand Beige) All glass was removed during paint process to get excellent paint coverage and protection of all gasket sealing surfaces New mounting hardware, mostly stainless steel (ie windshield and hood hinges, top and tub bolts, door hardware, etc.) Heavy-duty powder-coated front bumper Heavy-duty powder-coated rear bumper and tire carrier (Made by 4+Plus) Diamond plated aluminum corners (powder coated) Heavy duty undercoating on body and interior tub (Herculiner) Note: Engine compartment hood has a few imperfections (see photos)INTERIOR The interior was thoroughly restored and all accessories checked for proper function New Metal Tech Family Full Roll Cage (Heavy Duty) New front windshield and rubber seal Professionally tinted windows New door and window seals and weather stripping New heavy duty rear door hydraulic lifting arms New stainless steel hardware New windshield washer system New heavy duty locking console with cup holders New under-seat, locking storage box New dash board cover and in-dash LED lighting New dash compass Spector-Off-Road Bikini Top New hood bumper pads New custom-fit dash cover Commercial-grade indoor/outdoor carpet in rear custom fit to tub All accessories checked for proper function - gauges, heater, defroster, lights, signals, wipers, etc. Headliner replaced with commercial indoor/outdoor carpeting Rear jump seat, tumble/fold up type and shoulder seat belts (from Jeep Wrangler) Front bucket seats by Bestop and shoulder seat belts (Note: Drivers seat has slight rip, see picture) Seat covers included but not pictured Heated front seat option included but not pictured New heater (Summit Racing, 260cfm, 28,000 BTU) with heater shutoff valve for summer Complete tool set and jack BRAKES This FJ40 has the desirable front disk brakes with rear drums. System was checked for proper function including hand/parking brake. Brakes were completely bled and re-adjusted. New front disc brake pads and rotors, wheel cylinders, brake lines New rear brake shoes, rebuilt wheel cylinders, brake lines New brake master cylinder, new brake lines, proportioning valve for rear brakes New clutch master cylinder and fluid lines New parking brake shoes, oil seal, drum refurbished COOLING Radiator and water pump have been recently been replaced.
