CLEAN TITLE IN HAND, CT REGISTRATION CURRENT TILL JUNE 2016! NEW CLUTCH, IMS BEARING AND REAR MAIN SEAL AT 128,000 MILES I am selling my 2002 Porsche 911 C4S as I am leaving the working world to return to school. As such, it does not make sense to bring this car with me. It has been my steadfast daily driver for the last 5 years, and amazing for it. I acquired the car in 2009 with ~75k miles on it from California (specifically looked for cars that were not subject to hard climates). I had it independently inspected with a PPI done by a factory Porsche dealer in the Newport Beach area. I specifically looked for cars over 60k miles because of issues pertaining to the IMS, which you will find plenty of horror stories about. The wisdom from a respected Porsche engine builder was that a vehicle that is actually driven will either make problems apparent, or they don't exist. The 60k service in his experience was telling of the reliability of the engine, as most he had seen were garage queens that were not driven, so seals and surfaces degraded, and the 60k service was one of the more major services. Preventative and important maintenance I've performed; ~80k: engine mounts (done personally)~85k: upgraded coolant expansion tank, expansion tank cap, new battery, new spark plugs and coil packs (Daniel Jacobs, LLC/Hairy Dog Garage)~90k: Front CV joint inner and outer boots replaced, bearings re-greased (done personally)~98k: New battery, New Bilstein yellow struts, custom valved by SRP Engineering. (google SRP Engineering for the page) SRP Engineering is a suspension only shop that provided suspension engineering services to ALMS LMP category cars, and everything else that raced. This is a fantastic shop with crazy talent. James Stimola spec'd a damping curve suitable for the Porsche 911's needs in a factory yellow strut, using Bilstein factory valving components. This is not some crazy coil over, just a perfectly executed Bilstein yellow. The car sits on factory springs and is not lowered as I don't need or want a bone jarring ride that crashes into every little ant hill. The front suspension is connected to the sway bar by Tarret engineering drop links (google tarret engineering 996/997 front drop links). They are a little noisy (they sort of "click" at low speeds), but that tells me that they are mechanically active and doing the job properly. Factory drop links are used in the rear. I replaced the factory C4S lower lip with the lower lip from the Turbo for looks, and had the front lip and lower side skirts painted in factory midnight blue with added "Gravel Guard" (a flex additive) for durability. I spoke with CCW wheels about how to further complete my handling package, and it was made clear that the porsche needs as much tire up front as possible to balance the handling out. TR Motorsports wheels were purchased and new rubber added. These wheels are Rays Engineering blanks purchased by Tire Rack, who spec'd a design that was machined by Ray's, basically a private label wheel for tire rack done by Ray's Engineering (Volk Racing wheels). The wheels weigh significantly less than factory cast wheels, something like 23 lbs front, 28 lbs rear for the (IIRC) 8.5" wide front, 12" rear. The change in handling is noticeable verse stock, but THIS IS NOT A RACE SETUP. It is a well thought out, well executed daily driving suspension. (Musante Motorsports)~105K: front brake pads replaced, waterpump replaced (brakes done personally, waterpump by Musante Motorsports)~115k: rear brake pads replaced (done personally)~125k: replacement waterpump failed, replaced again under warranty (Musante Motorsports)~128k: Full clutch (pressure plate, clutch disk, throw out bearing, all new bolts as required), upgraded to 997 spec Rear Main Seal, LN Engineering IMS (Musante Motorsports). Oil was changed in conjunction with RMS/IMS replacement, so next oil service is due at 133k. THIS IS A CRITICAL UPGRADE, though apparently whomever built my engine was on top of their game as i did not experience any of the catastrophic engine failures associated with 996 series m96 motors. It does however satisfy that concern thoroughly. ~130k: Secondary Air injection pump replaced, new coils and spark plugs (SAI pump done personally, coils and spark plugs by Daniel Jacobs, LLC) This is a very well taken care of Porsche! I have not listed the following, because they are ROUTINE MAINTENANCE for me: Oil changes have been done every 5,000 miles with castrol 5w-40 (because LN Engineering said so) since i got her, and Mahle brand filters. I bleed the brakes every year (have a pressure assist device) when i pull my winter tires and put my summer tires back on. Air and pollen filters are replaced per Porsche guidelines. The car has a very cleanly installed Kenwood Excellon head unit that combines radio, navigation, and bluetooth phone functions with a rear view camera. The factory stereo is intact, including the Bose subwoofer. Things of note: The car will need the following: front brake pads and rotors, new summer tires for spring 2015, new window regulators. There is a VERY SHALLOW dent in the left front quarter panel. Some jerk, and i suspect i know who, kicked my car. I found a boot print right on it. This person kicks like a baby though, as the dent is very light. I'd have still preferred that he had his words with me, rather than passive aggressively taking it out on my car. That is not the actions of a man, rather the childish lashing out of an insecure boy. Regardless, see the photo, it is to my eye, minor enough that it hasn't warranted repair. I simply feel it needs to be disclosed. The car will need new window regulators, and a new frunk (front trunk) release solenoid. The car may include the brake pressure bleeder depending on price, and possibly additional wheels: I have my aftermarket set, the factory 18" Turbo Twist set that it came with, and a set of narrower, Factory Twist II style wheels that are mounted with Blizzak tires for the winter. Depending on price and buyer preference, all or some of those wheels will be included. No warranty is implied or given. Car is sold as is. Cash talks loudest. Bank Checks and money orders accepted. Prefer not to use paypal. Any check will have to clear before the title is signed over. Prefer to sell in the NY/CT/RI/MA area, I'd like to avoid complications in shipping unless you want to make those arrangements. Any questions, just ask, ill do my best to answer them, I'm very new to selling on ebay.
