Vehicle Detail
This is a REAL 1954 Cadillac Eldorado...one of only 2150 Eldorados made in 1954...numbers matching...that is to say the numbers on the engine, frame, plastic service data plate in the door jamb and title all have the same vin number. On the trim tag it has Style 54-6267 SX, was originally Alpine White code 18C with trim 39Y...top is code 2, and accessories are listed as EH. I bought this car from a gentleman who bought it in 1977 and was basically restoring it over the period of many years. The car comes with a file of receipts dating back to the late 70s. While the car was somewhat apart in the midst of the restoration...recently...the garage it was in caught fire. While the motor, trans and most of the mechanicals in the front saw some heat...they were basically just made to look ugly and only cosmetically damaged. Engine turns by hand...I pulled the plugs out and saw what looks like new pistons. The previous owner did tell me he had the engine rebuilt. The doors, quarter panels, trunk lid and tulip panels got warped from the heat. The front clip on the Eldorado is usable. The wiring was also completely damaged. The dash and dash pad were not on the car when the fire happened...neither was many interior pieces nor the seats which had just been redone to the tune of nearly $7,000. The previous owner even had the Cadillac crests embossed in the leather as per original. There are a couple of flaws in the seats I noticed..a scratch in one and a little divot in another. Ok for a driver but you might have those offending pieces replaced to make it perfect. This was a no rust California car when this incident took place. Take a look at the floor pans...they are as solid as they come. There is a clean old pink slip in the previous owners name..signed off..no salvage, no issues. Enter the parts car...I found this 1954 Cadillac 2 door hardtop and saw that it had a complete set of the Eldorado aluminum side trim..and bought it immediately. Trim looks like it has been on there FOREVER...might have been a dealer job. Not sure if its a coupe de ville or series 62. It has one brush paint job over the original paint and is a very good original California black plate car in its own right. Perfect template to see how the Eldorado should be put together...which clip goes where, how wiring is routed..etc. This car has never been apart. Engine on this car is stuck. I believe this car has been sitting for decades. Just a bill of sale on the parts car. If someone with a little more money and energy can combine these two cars and make them one...you will have a very valuable car. Price guides show real sales of fully restored 1954 Eldorados as coming in over $100,000. Just about everything you will need for the convertible can be taken from the coupe. Dont have the top well trim, and the side windows were junk. Convertible top rack will need some tweaking, but have the rams still. Take a look at the parts pile...there is actually more that is coming with the cars...have the gas tank from the Eldorado, rear bumper center, rear bumper brackets and some miscellaneous trim. So this is what someone should do....have the Eldorado sand blasted...POR15 the floors and start putting nice stuff on the car from the parts car. You wont have to redo the engine most likely, the seats are already done...dont have the door panels...only curveball are the quarter panels and tulip panel. Also the panel below the trunk lid is also damaged..that was done by the firemen when they wanted in the trunk immediately. That panel can also be taken from the parts car. Why am I selling it? Its too big of a project for me right now...dont have the space or money this car deserves. Why work on a normal project and maybe break even when you want to sell it? You can dump a ton of money fixing this car AND STILL MAKE MONEY WHEN YOU SELL IT! I dont think that happens very often... Please email as many questions as you might have. Auction might end at any time as the car is for sale locally too. TERMS: Full payment is to be in my hands within 4 days of auction end. MANNER OF PAYMENT IS STRICTLY MY CHOOSING. Your bid means you will buy it for that price, not ask questions later or come look at if for yourself. Satisfy all questions before you bid. International bidders need to contact me so I can clear you to bid. If International...remember the parts car doesnt have a title. Check with transporters before you bid...remember you will be shipping two inop cars.
