Vehicle Detail
I bought this 1984 Honda XR500R from the original owner about 2 years ago. It was sitting in his back shed for a couple of years collecting dust. I bought it and rebuilt the carburetors, got all the lights working, did a tune up, replaced the coil, replaced the fuel tank with a new Clarke brand tank (matches the color of the rest of the bike perfectly), put on reproduction number plate background stickers, and cleaned the bike up. I have enjoyed riding the bike, but it is a bit too tall for me and I struggle handling it through tight wooded areas. The bike runs well, but needs to be ridden more often as I don't get a chance to ride it enough. The motorcycle shows normal wear from use such as the paint on the frame and engine side cases is worn off in spots where your boots would rub frequently. Seat has very little imperfections (one minimal tear at a front edge). Fork boots are in great condition. Tires are near new and have VERY LITTLE time on them. The exhaust is factory and in good condition (minor damage to the end of the muffler). Brakes work great! A few kicks and the bike fires right up and runs well. Revving the bike at a normal pace is fine. When "snapping" the throttle wide open the motorcycle seems to die out. These years had tricky carburetors (a primary and a secondary carburetor). I am not sure if running it more may clean it out (may have been due to gas that is a few months old and doesn't allow it to burn as efficiently?), but I didn't notice it under normal riding conditions. No abnormal noise (the cam chain and valves are quiet). Has the factory speedometer with trip odometer that is in excellent condition and works great! Actual mileage/hours of use is unknown, but from the condition of the bike, it is nothing too high and the bike was maintained very well over the years. Original Honda rear fender tool bag is missing the zipper tab, but still has the zipper base. I don't think it has the factory tools in it, but it does have a mix of tools from the previous owner in there. Fenders are in very good condition and not really that scratched up or beat up (no cracks). Factory air box with new UNI filter. This would be great for a person wanting to have the bike they used to have "way back when", finish restoring it, go vintage racing, or to have a great time trail riding!!! This model had a working headlight and running light (tail light) without brake light. It is not street legal (without converting it). It will be sold with bill of sale only as these were not normally transferred with title. I believe I have the MSO from the previous owner (untransferable from what I understand). If you have any questions or would like specific pictures, please let me know and I will try to assist as quickly as I can. Vehicle will be sold with bill of sale. Shipping/delivery of the motorcycle is 100% the responsibility of the winning bidder. Vehicle can be stored for about 3 weeks. NO paypal payments. cash, check, money orders please. Vehicle leaves AFTER payment is cleared.
