Vehicle Detail
The following was transcribed by the owner:1957 Chevrolet Bel Air 4 door sedan. This car is in overall used car condition. Current owner has had the car since 2003. It is an original California black and yellow plate vehicle that is currently registered. Engine and Front End Has a brand new 350 Goodwrench Crate Motor with approximately 10,000 miles on it. Has a 4 barrel carburetor and dual exhaust and automatic transmission (with overdrive). Sounds nice. Engine sounds stock. Not loud, just sounds strong and healthy. Owner has had issues with car seeming to overheat (high temp, no steaming). Took to mechanic who said the radiator should handle it. Mechanic could not get the car to run warm, so not sure if there is a problem or not. The radiator was boiled out in 2004. Car is equipped with power steering and drum brakes. In May of 2013 a new master cylinder and rear wheel cylinders were installed. Tires look good. Two ply whitewalls with spare and jack in trunk. New 5 year battery in 2012. Has battery disconnect switch. Front end rebuilt in 2003. Interior Inside the car looks real nice. Seats look great. No visible rips, tears, or stains. Carpeting looks good too. The headliner has some moderate stains, especially towards the back of vehicle, however no rips or tears. All the gauges work except the temperature gauge, which has been replaced. A cluster of gauges for temperature, oil, and battery has been installed below the dash. The car has aftermarket vintage air conditioning that works but lately has developed some issues with activating when switched on. Heat works good, but works through the AC. All the windows roll up and down fine, along with the wing windows. The clock works when it wants to. The radio is an aftermarket vintage style am/fm cassette player. What appears to be 6x9 speakers installed in the package tray. Package tray lining is coming up and looks to be slightly warped from the sun Exterior There is some minor rust on the car. Rear doors have some bubbles, but car does come with two rust free replacement doors. Also there is some rust below the back window around the left side, below the glass where it meets the top of the quarter panel. Also some minor bubbling along the lower left fender where it meets the trim. Both bumpers have rust and will eventually need to be rechromed. . Chrome does have some pitting and dings here and there, and some silver paint applied, but overall presentable. No major rot on the car. Solid floorboards and trunk pan, though one small area on the trunk pan has light surface rust. Undercarriage appears clean. Body wise the car seems to be straight; did notice one little indentation on the front lower area of the passenger door. Otherwise looks clean. The paint job looks like an older restoration. It’s a light blue paint job with ghost flames and a white top. All the lights and turn signals, as well as the wipers work, but the back up lights or license plate light doesn't. There is also a crack in the lens of license plate light and the tail-lights on the left side. Also crack in lens of signal light on left front. Odometer reads about 89,000, but not true mileage because of the new motor. Original motor can purchased separately if desired. This car is a solid family hauler that is good to go now and can be improved a little at a time as the new owner wishes. With the 350 engine the car has the potential for further customizations. This is transcribed by me the broker: 1957 Chevy Bel Air Sedan. 350 Goodwrench crate motor with approximately 10,000 miles. Has 4bbl Edelbrock carburetor. Aftermarket Autometer gauges for water, battery, and oil pressure. Clock doesn't work accurately. Has vintage air and heat, but some sporadic electric issues. Everything tested, all lights and turn signals worked except as mentioned, no back up lights. Also the cassette player wasn't tested but newer unit I am sure it is operational. Power steering and brakes have been done. Front end has been rebuilt as well. Drum brakes all the way around. 2 speed powerglide transmission has been replaced with a modern one with overdrive. Tranny was done at the same time the motor was replaced. Headliner is stained as mentioned. Left rear tail light and left rear back up light lenses are cracked. Also marker lights lenses in front are cracked too. Slight delamination in glass on front passenger window and both wing windows. There is a chip in the glass on top of the driver's side window. Windows roll up and down freely as do the wing windows. There is some rust on vehicle. Worst spot is behind the rear glass on left side. Owner was told it would cost around $1000 dollars to repair. Rear doors have rust bubbles but car does come with 2 replacement doors as mentioned. Also some rust along the edge of the front fender where it meets the rocker panel trim. Just some minor bubbling. No actual rot or holes. There are some small pin holes of rust in the trunk on left side. Also as mentioned the bumpers do have rust issues and would need to be rechromed to resolve that. Interior is pretty cherry. Front and rear seat look great with no rips or stains. Also carpeting is in great shape too. Car has dual exhaust and a trailer hitch in back. Also working car lighter so you can hook up your electronic devices. Vehicle has a clear title and is a California car with Black and yellow plates, though not the correct Yellow and black plates for this year car. It is currently registered too. Metal is all original, no accidents, no bondo or repairs. Chrome is nice shape. A couple of small dings here and there. Worst dinged area is on the right front fender. There is also a scratch on that fender as well. Along with a couple of paint defects on the hood. Vehicle has 4 bias ply whitewalls that are era correct for this car. Tires have decent rubber and original hubcabs are in fair shape. Chevy rides out real nice and starts up everytime Overall mechanically in really good shape. Some minor issues comestically and mechanically but a nice daily driver. 4 door Chevy Bel Airs are gaining value as the 2 doors are increasingly becoming harder to find. A great investment and real fun car. If you have any questions please feel free to email me before you bid with those queries or concerns.
