Vehicle Detail

12.00 What I have for sale is a 2001 Chevrolet Impala LS. The car has 121,299 miles on it. I have owned the car for quite a few years now; at this point I really don’t have any use for it. For the most part it just sits and I see no reason to keep paying the insurance, taxes, and emissions fee to keep it on the road. The car is in relatively good condition; below I have outlined any issues that I can think of. If you are interested in the car please make sure that you are aware of its condition before bidding. The car is being sold as is, where is, if you buy the car I have the clean title and will be more than happy to make out a bill of sale. When it comes to being removed from the property the new owner will either need to bring their own plates, or they will need to have the vehicle towed off of the property. The car is currently registered and on the road, but I will be turning in the plate soon, like I said above I’m looking to sell it not keep it so I don’t wish to keep it registered any longer. I only have one key for the car and no remote. At the bottom of the description you will find a link to a YouTube video showing the engine compartment while the engine is running. Also you will find a link to a Picasa web album with additional pictures. Below is a general description including any known issues. I am not a mechanic, some of the issues have been told to me when the car was in for service. Please ask any questions before bidding, you are welcome to contact me through eBay. Body Overall the body is in relatively good shape, there are some imperfections in the paint as you might expect from a car that is 13 years old. The passenger side front panel directly above the wheel well has a shallow dent, with a slight crack in the paint. The back bumper has a very slight few cracks, these have no structural impact on the bumper as far as I know, they been on the car since I’ve owned it and its back bumper shows no other major flaws. These cracks are relatively insignificant; I’ve done the best I can to try to take pictures of them for the new owners benefit. There are some stone chips on the hood, these again are not anything major, I have taken some photos to try to represent the small blemishes. On the roof, directly over the driver-side door there is a small area that was repainted. The color doesn’t match exactly on this spot but it is close. Undercarriage The undercarriage of the car seems to be in good condition. There are some small rust spots but overall it seems to be in good shape. The jack points on the car are rusty, they are still fully capable of handling a jack, but some of the metal is bent and rust is present. Some of the plastic retaining tabs that hold on one of the plastic molding pieces were replaced. Glass The glass on the car is in relatively good shape, the windows were tinted before I purchased the car, the tint has held up relatively well, there are some small nicks in the film but overall in good shape. The windshield has some scratches and hazing from a previous windshield wiper. The scratches are shallow and certainly don’t affect the integrity of the glass. Wheels and Tires The rims on the car are in fairly decent shape, they are a little grimy and could certainly use a polish. The tires on the other hand are not in the best of shape. They did start to wear unevenly, and at this point not only are they uneven but they are worn down. The tires definitely need to be replaced. Because of the uneven wear however at highway speeds especially the car ride is a little rough and noisy. The CV Joints are going to need to be serviced sooner or later. The mechanic who looked at the car mentioned that it could be quite a while. Mechanical The engine still runs well and it idles well, I have kept up on all of the general maintenance, air filters, oil filters, and oil changes. The engine compartment seems to be in relatively good order, I haven’t seen any leaks, the car is stored in a garage with a cement floor and I haven’t seen anything on the floor to indicate leaks, I also haven’t seen any leaks visually. The low coolant light is on in the car but I believe it to be a sensor, because the coolant level stays the same, it has never been low. Going back to the engine compartment, some of the engine mounts have a little bit of surface rust. Again I see nothing structurally wrong, there is very little rust. One of the things that may need to be checked on is the oil pan gasket. I was told when I bought it in for service that the oil pan gasket was starting to go. Besides the low coolant light being on, the air bag light also does come on, I should mention that both of these come on intermittently, they are on sometimes and sometimes they are not. One of the things that is relatively recent is the ignition, I’ve had a problem where sometimes it sticks, what I mean by this is the car turns on fine, it’s when you go to turn it off, the engine will turn off, but the key will not go all the way off. Recently the ignition has been fine; it has been turning off without issue. Also the driver side door lock fell inside the door, I have been using the passenger lock to unlock the car. The Interior Overall the interiors in relatively good shape, as you might expect there are some imperfections. At some point somebody had used an adhesive to mount something on the dash pad, is just too small little circles of adhesive, they really aren’t that noticeable, unless you’re looking for them they also mounted some small lights with adhesive right besides the gear selector. All in all the upholstery in the car is in really good shape, there are some little spots here and there, I know on the passenger side underneath the carpet there are some small ink stains. There are some splotches on some of the upholstery in the driver and passenger seats, again nothing major it certainly does not look bad. There is a small divot on the back driver side arm rests as well as some small scratches underneath; I tried my best to get these in one of the pictures. Car is from a smoke free owner.
