RELISTED DUE to a NO GOOD BIDDER! Thanks for NOTHING, "victburd". You cost us time and money. Don't ever come back! 1971 Honda CB750 K1 Frame# (VIN) 1116182 ~ Engine# 1116008 Assembled October 1971 Superb looking, classic K1 that has had its original finish lovingly protected by two careful adult owners. Fantastic detailing. Except for some period accessories (oil cooler and 4-into-one exhaust), and more modern Dunlop tires, this machine looks completely original and stock, right down to the original Candy Gold paint, seat upholstery, lights, mirrors, chrome, and complete factory tool kit in its little bag. We’re told the 32,400 miles on the odo is correct, and there is no reason to doubt it. This is one of the final K1 models made, at the very end of the model year. Sold new in 1972, and titled for that year, the original owner rode this bike for ten Minnesota summers before putting it into dry storage. It was purchased by the present owner in 2005, put back on the road and used sparingly for recreational rides, with an eye on preservation. It’s now been a couple of years since it was really well used, and with the registration having lapsed eighteen months ago, the owner has decided it’s time to let it go to a new steward who will appreciate it for what it is. Walking around the bike, one first notices the amazing sheen and color of the factory paint. The stripes and badges are in super condition, and really accent the appearance of the tank. The side panels have some very light remnants of some pinstripes that were applied when the bike was new. There are no cracks are scars in the plastic or the beautiful badges. There is an obvious dent in the top of the tank (see photos). It’s gentle enough to be worked out, and probably without breaking the paint. The correct K1-style seat has good padding, apparently the original upholstery, and good stitching. The chrome is generally excellent. There is minor typical micro-pitting on the die cast parts (turn signal housings) and on the rims. There is a small dent on the bottom of the front fender, visible only when the handlebars are turned (see photo #56 on the link!). The header pipes and megaphone have some finish loss on the chrome and some oxidation (particularly underneath), but no rust-through. There is no damage that would indicate the bike was ever dropped or crashed. It presents even better in person than it does in pictures, and would be very well received at most any bike meet any place on earth. The finish on this bike could be termed as being in the “preservation” category, and on an entirely higher level than what would be called “patina” on a bike showing more wear and tear. Please “supersize” all the 24 photos for the best look, and then see the photo link down below for a really good look at details. The bike starts easily on the choke (brand new battery since coming out of storage two weeks ago). For not having been used in a couple of years, it runs good. It will sometimes stall on idle if not caressing the throttle. The fuel is fresh, the inside of the tank looks clean (see photos #80, 81, 82!), and the rubber carb insulators look new (photo #52). We really didn’t fool with it much, but we’re guessing the carbs should be cleaned on a bench. Aside from the tricky idle, acceleration is strong (after suitably warming the oil, of course!). The clutch take-up is silky and it bites well; the gearbox clicks easily and accurately; the brakes are smooth, quiet and effective. We didn’t give it a race-day workout, just a few miles to affirm that everything is roadworthy. The classic spoke wheels are apparently true and the tires balanced. It felt delightful to ride: Sweet handling and wonderful noises. Headlamp works on hi & lo; gauges and warning lights work; tail & brake light works; turn signals blink correctly on command ; and all the controls work with the exception of the horn, which was removed to mount the oil cooler back in ‘72. The original chrome-plated horn will be included in a box for the new owner, along with several new oil filters, ignitions points and condenser sets, new air filter, a couple of garage manuals (classic Haynes & Clymer editions; both great!), and the correct, original chrome caps for the rear springs (photo #116!). eBay gives us room for only 24 photos.
