Vehicle Detail

Hi, For your consideration, is this original Jeep CJ 7 Laredo edition. I bought this from the family of the original owner. It was passed around a bit within the family. It shows just over 119,000 original miles. It spent its life in a dry Deseret climate in southern Utah. While I would not call this a "garage kept cream puff".. I would call it a survivor. It sports most of its original paint and has had no obvious modifications done to it. I am losing a storage garage I have had for years and must sell a few vehicles. The property sold quick, so I must sell quick too.. Reserve is very low and very fair. So, bid to win this one!! I have sold over 10 classic cars on Ebay over the past 10 years, mostly classic Datsuns and classic Jeeps. All of my buyers have been very happy until my last sell. I try very hard to accurately describe what im selling. I'm knowledgeable in classics and what to look for. I guess you just can't always win. Please study the pics and ask questions, BEFORE you bid or buy and understand that this is a 30+yr old vehicle and I don't know everything about it. I am always willing to pick you up from the airport for a inspection or meet with somebody here to view it for you. Ok, on to the details. BODY/PAINT: This Jeep still wears most of its original paint and Laredo decals. It is incredibly straight and has very few door ding type flaws. It does have a soft area with rust in the right rear corner (see pic) and a few small areas of surface or just a little more than surface (pitting) rust. I can photograph ANY part of the vehicle you want to see in detail from my iphone, I am also willing to do a walk around while on the phone. The paint itself still has some luster, but it has been in the deseret and is oxidized and wearing thin. The underside is still very solid. The drivers floor area appears to have a rust issue, but after looking closer, it is apparent that it had a leaky brake master at some point which destroyed the paint on the floor. Despite the paint damage on the drivers floor, it is still solid. Their is a small dent at the spare tire mount/hinge. The plastic piece on the front bumper is missing. Paint is chipping on the drivers front fender (see pic) INTERIOR: The interior is the Laredo trim and appears to be all or mostly present. Not in the best shape though. The dash is cracked, the front seats are mis-matched and the back seat is split at the seams. The original carpet is present but not great. Door panels are still nice. There is a knob or two missing, interior door handle broken on the passenger side (replacement comes with it), both doors have cracks near the top, console lock falls out, gauges appear to all work, even the clock! Rear view mirror needs to be re-glued. The leather wrapped steering wheel is sun cooked, shift know is loose, seat belts don't buckle (previous owner was attempting to change to shoulder belts and I believe the new lap buckles come with it). Windows roll up and down fine, doors shut and open as well as the swing tire and tail gate. Study the pics, ask questions. MECHANICALLY:I drove this Jeep over 200 miles home about a month ago. I noticed several things that need attention. I may not have noticed everything or know exactly the brake lining percentages, so again, please be realistic and understand I am giving you my honest account of what I observed. First of all.. it has a pretty significant exhaust leak off the motor near the fire wall. I was able to tighten 3 loose bolts and reduce the noise and exhaust gas, but this makes for an unpleasant driving experience.. and sound. It seems to run pretty good.. It would climb Utah's mountain grades at 55-60mph in 4th gear. Does not run hot. The transmission shifts through all 5 gears and reverse, but is difficult to drive without "crunching it".. I think the synchros are worn. I noticed no odd noises within the drivetrain other than the above issues. It shifts into 4 wheel drive and low range as it should. I have observed a small leak on my driveway coming from the steering box area, not sure if its a hose or the box. Just a couple drops of oil after sitting for days. It is equipped with A/C but is non op, I have not looked into it. SUMMARY: Absolutely, a good driver quality, solid chassis CJ. Would make a great candidate for a restoration or just enjoy as is and make repairs or upgrades as necessary. My intention was to do a V8 swap. I'm a little gun shy after this last deal, so I have spent most of my efforts telling you the negatives. Its a good one.. Not a cherry cream puff, but a good one. And now, my last bit of seller disclosure.. I can help accommodate you with shipping, but it will be the buyers responsibility to get quotes, arrange and pay the expenses. I require $500 deposit within 24 hrs end of auction and full payment via wire transfer (only) within 5 days end of auction. IMPORTANT:I have tried to describe this vehicle as accurately and honestly as possible but please remember it is a used vehicle. As with any vehicle, (new or used) there may be issues that I have overlooked or am unaware of. If you are not familiar with purchasing used vehicles and or specialty vehicles or you have not purchased a vehicle using the Internet, PLEASE do your research, ask questions, make sure you are comfortable with me as a seller, the vehicle, and the process. Unless stated otherwise, I am not offering a warranty so if you want one, let's discuss it and document it before the purchase is final. Otherwise there is no warranty expressed or implied. THANKS!
