Vehicle Detail

I have a very nice 1959 Dodge D700, 2-1/2 Ton Fire Truck in Very Good Condition. This was originally one of the Fire Trucks in Walden, CO until around 1990, then Jackson County bought it and used it for a welding truck around Walden. The truck has a .354 Power Giant Dodge Hemi V8 engine and starts right up, I had to clean the fuel tank first. The county quit using it in 2006 when the steering gear box had an issue. The steering gear box is out at the moment and I got a quote to fix it in Denver for $450-600. I was hoping to just find a good used one, Gemmer 50007. Simple to replace. It is on the running board with both gears in the last photo, that is why the steering wheel is off, because the steering shaft is hooked to the gear. Truck has 29,423 miles on the odometer, hard to say if it has turned over or not being a fire truck. Incredible amount of storage boxes on the truck and a cabinet behind the cab large enough for a sleeper. This truck would make a cool toy hauler? Has 10.00 x 20" tires with duals on the rear, the rear end is 2-1/2 tons. There is a ding to the front right fender and one head light broken and a ding to the left front hood, virtually no rust because of the wonderful Colorado weather. This is one powerful truck. Has a 5-speed transmission with a Hi/Lo switch. Inside of cab is extra nice for its age. This is a project, but what a cool one. Will roll smoothly on a trailer with a winch, the rear outside duals are easy to remove to fit on a quite narrow trailer. Overall length is slightly over 26 feet and 19 feet from the front of the bumper to the rear of the duals. Would fit on a 20' trailer, but much longer is recommended. I am sure the truck is 5-6 tons. The county tack welded a 4'x6' sheet of 1/2" plate steel on the back end to mount their welders to, very simple to remove, approx. 1500 pounds alone. Currently the brake and clutch pedal are soft from sitting. Asking $4500 or best offer, possible trade. Currently working on many 1960's Ford Mustangs. Clear Colorado title. Please call 303-507-0045, or email with any questions. Local pick-up and we are in Longmont, Colorado 80503.
