Vehicle Detail
I purchased this van in 2013 from the original owners who drove it off the lot in march of 1978. It was already a conversion van when they bought it. They had used it for traveling and it had made many a trip to AZ. It has a 360 and a 3 speed automatic. The owner had reset the odometer when the engine and transmission were rebuilt some 12,000 miles ago. Actual miles were over 100k when redone. It has remained a very soilid frame and floor van. I had welded some patches in the rear quarters from stamped reproduction panels that are offered today. After the van was new, the sun visor and flares were added and still remain today. A new chin spoiler was sourced as the orignal had suffered damage. I painted it in a modern day formula of the original green. It sparkles in the sun and is a base-clear job. I took off the doors to do the insides and jambs. It has all new weatherstripping , door handles and windshield. Vintage rear louvers were re-done and spare tire mount was powdercoated and re-used. Spare tire cover has a decal and could be removed.Inside is new "small shag" caroet and all new upholstery. There was an old cabinet on a wall and it was too old to save. Instead i bought two "flip" chairs that can be laid out into small beds. The rear seat also folds out to sleep 1-2 people. I had the upholsterer match the seat vinyl as close to the original door panels. dash pad has a carpet protector which has saved the dash from cracks, Lights, fan, wipers and cruise works. A/C has been disconnected. Bumpers are decent but for a show quality look they could be rechromed. Side paipes are new and have just the right subtle tone. Radio is a cd player and works well through 6 speakers. Old school cb is still hanging but not working. Van fires up with one tap of the gas and runs down the road just fine. She cruises well at 70-80 with no rattles or shakes. It now has a 3:55 gear which was done in 2001 at an AZ dealer. It has a class 3 hitch, brake controller and 7 pin plug for hauling. Interior lights run off of a 2nd battery located under the rear seat. It is in an enclosed box and vented. I still do have the ladder for the rear doors and top rack. It won't fit in my garage with it so I left it off. Speaking of roof height..I patched the roof where the old vent used to be. It is removable and the hole on the inside is still there but a small Farrah Fawcet poster now covers it. They sure made a ton of these back in the day but not many have survived. Feel confident as this is a fun, great van that doesn't need alot of work to have fun. It sounds great, doesn't leak a bunch of fluids and is simple to drive. It sure is a conversation starter wherever you go. I am not interested in trades. I would welcome any or all questions and inspections. Please do homework before bidding-buying. I'd like to sell but by no means is this a fire sale. It would make a great tailgate van for lambeau field this fall! Van is sold as is and I am easy to get ahold of. My # is 414-688-060four. VAn is located near milwaukee. 90 miles N of chicago and 30 miles from IL border.
