Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a wonderful surviving example of the earliest Ford Mustang, the "1964 1/2" model year. This particular Mustang was built on June 18th 1964 and still wears its' original outer body sheet metal, trim, etc. The exterior of the car is very straight and still has the original Ford Wimbledon White paint, showing a wonderful aged patina but still shiny. The glass all around is in excellent condition, and the chrome & trim is still straight and presentable. Data tag decodes as follows: Body 65A 2-door Hardtop Coupe ColorM Wimbledon WhiteTrim85 Red Crinkle Vinyl StandardDate18F June 18, 1964DSO91 ExportAxle1 3.00:1 ConventionalTrans6 C4 Automatic Warranty/VIN decodes as follows: Year5 1965PlantF Dearborn, MichiganBody 07 2-Door Hardtop CoupeEngineF 260 2v V8Unit170272 The VIN/Unit number matches the title, door data tag, and inner fender serial number stamp. The wheels are newer chrome wheels, slightly wider than original, still wearing original hubcaps and brand-new radial tires. The car just received a front end alignment and new shocks along with the new tires. She drives very straight down the road without wander. The suspension is original. The engine is an early 289 2v that still runs strong and reliably. The transmission is the original C4, the rear end the original 3.00 open. The brakes have been rebuilt, and the car is a very reliable turn-key runner/driver. The headlights, tail lights, blinkers, brake lights, and windshield wipers are all in proper working order so you can hop in and drive with confidence. The floors and trunk are rust-free. The outer body is also rust-free with only the most minor beginnings of paint bubbles here and there. The interior is beautiful, bright, and comfortable. I believe the previous owner of 35 years must have redone it, because it just looks so nice. As a whole, the car has a beauty that defines an era of classic cars; the paint shows patina and character, and balances well with the rest of the exterior trim. The bright red interior really pops, but in a way that compliments the survivor patina instead of conflicting with it. It's unusual to find such a complimentary old-and-new correlation, but it exists with this car. The car currently does not have a heater; it comes with a heater box, controls, etc. if you choose to add it later. The original steel wheels with tires also come with the car in the trunk. I went over the car thoroughly and noticed that the passenger rear lower quarter was patched with a metal panel at some point in the distant past; looks like a sound and long-lasting repair only evidenced from the inner trunk/fender. There is an intermittent vibration when driving that I think might be worn u-joints; it demonstrates only on partial throttle, not on- or off. It doesn't effect the drivability of the car but I wanted to mention it. The car runs reliably, cool, etc. New battery, fresh fluid service. Ready to go. Title in hand. You may reach me at 360-936-9257 with any questions you may have. While every effort is being made to describe the car accurately, it is in fact a 50-year-old classic, and therefore being sold as-is, without warranty or guarantee expressed, written, or implied. Payment is due within 3 days of auction close via bank wire transfer, Bank of America deposit or cashier's check, or cash. I will wait for payments to physically clear issuing bank before releasing the car and/or paperwork. Shipping is the full responsibility of the buyer. I will make myself available for pickup and loading. PLEASE, NO LOW- OR ZERO-FEEDBACK BIDDERS WITHOUT CALLING ME FIRST WITH YOUR INTENTIONS.
