Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a very rare and desirable project Corvette... a 1970 LT-1 4-speed Roadster in Monza Red with black interior... does it get much better? This car was lost to a storage lien and that is why it is missing parts. Fortunately, the original VIN-stamped "numbers-matching" born-with engine and transmission are still with the car... whew! The engine has the VIN of the car clearly stamped in to the ID pad, as well as the engine code with the "CTU" suffix clearly visible... decodes as 1970 Corvette 370HP LT-1 with 4-speed manual transmission and HEI ignition. The engine appears to have been rebuilt, showing new freeze plugs, a clean oil lifter galley, and apparently a new cam and solid lifters. The heads are 71/72 LT-1 2.02 angle plug heads, and the intake is an aftermarket aluminum. It does come with Ram's Horn exhaust manifolds which I have not checked for originality. The transmission is original and also has the VIN clearly stamped into it. The shifter is still attached and in the car. I believe the exhaust has been changed out at some point, but appears "as" original and may be original. The car is a roller as pictured, with a complete, unmolested, and rust-free chassis. The power brake booster and power steering gear box and ram are still present. The rear end is original and unmolested, the spare tire and fuel tank are also original and present. The wheels are the original rally wheels that came on the car. Tires are good (almost new). Body work is solid, has been apparently stripped and sealed in a quality 2K urethane primer. Two of the original center caps are still present, and there is a box with small miscellaneous original parts that will come with the car. The dash and center console are intact and still retain the original speedometer showing just over 90K original miles, original LT-1 tachometer, console gauges, and Air Conditioning/heater control unit. It is obviously missing parts as shown. I will provide the auction winner with the name of the person who formerly owned the car.... perhaps you and he can make some arrangement to get the missing parts back. The car is sold with the storage auction lien documents necessary to obtain the title. If you are an out-of-area buyer, I will process the paperwork and mail you the title. If you are local, you can do so yourself, or I can still do it for you if you wish. It's a courtesy I will extend to whomever buys the car. The car is a non-running, rolling project, and being sold as-is, without warranty or guarantee expressed, written, or implied. Shipping is the full responsibility of the buyer. I will make myself available for pickup. Please be ready to remit payment within 3 days of auctions' end via bank wire transfer, direct deposit (bank of america), or B of A cashier's check, which I will verify and wait to physically clear prior to releasing the vehicle and paperwork. Cash is always good. You may call me directly at 360-936-9257 with any questions you may have. PLEASE, NO ZERO-FEEDBACK OR LOW-FEEDBACK BIDDERS WITHOUT CONTACTING ME FIRST! I have had bad experiences with same.On Jun-14-14 at 13:15:52 PDT, seller added the following information: NOTE: It has been brought to my attention that "no" 1970 Corvette LT-1's came with air conditioning.... this car has A/C. It was also brought to my attention that the LT-1 has a 6,500 rpm redline tach, not 6,000 as this car does; should have know that as I own a '71 LT roadster as well. I re-checked the suffix code on the engine, and it is indeed "CTJ" not CTU. That means that this car, while a matching numbers 4-speed roadster, is in fact an L46 350/350 car. The engine does appear to have a new solid-lifter cam in it, which is the only difference between the LT-1 and L46 internally. My apologies for the confusion. I will amend the buy-it-now price from $8,500.00 to $7,500.00 in consideration of the above information. Tim 360-936-9257
