Vehicle Detail
Here we have for sale a very cool original 1948 Dodge 1/2 ton Pilothouse B1 pickup truck. This is a beautiful first year of this series of Dodge. The truck is in amazing shape for its age. It has been sitting in a field for many many years untouched and forgotten about. It was an old farm truck here in Reno and by the looks of it, I am not sure it was used a whole lot. The truck is a typical dry Nevada truck, with no rot in the metal. There is simply surface rust underneath on the undercarriage from daily use. The truck was repainted a few times before, but the color on the exterior is a brown metallic. It is chipped in many places, revealing the turquoise paint underneath. The truck looks to be complete and is missing very little, the rear bumper is the only thing that appears to be an aftermarket accessory. It is a heavy duty Barden type bumper that has towing a trailer capabilities. The original fenders are all nice on the truck. The body and doors are straight with no rot. There are little dings around the entire truck. Nothing major at all, I just like to note that within my ad. The truck bed is a short bed, 6.5" long. It is deeper then most truck boxes but it looks cooler then most too. Just check out the detail on the sides of the truck box. The tail gate is original but has some dents and dings in it from people loading and unloading cargo from the bed. The original wood slats are all intact in the bed however they have been baking in the sun so they are dried out. The windows are all intact but the back window was replaced with a piece of plastic. The grill is complete and all of the stainless trim is intact and in real nice shape. The hood emblem is really nice! The Dodge emblems that are on both sides of the hood are broken, I have all the pieces to repair if desired. The passenger side hood has a crack near the hinge from the hood opening up too far. The hood has really neat hood props when you open either side up. The engine appears to be original and complete but it does not turn over. The engine paint is still nice underneath where the pan and lower part of the block. The head has chipped paint on it. There is a really neat dual tipped exhaust coming out by the passenger running board. Probably sounds pretty good! There are 4 original Dodge wheels on the truck but only one hubcap. The floors are very nice and have no rust through on them. Like I said, there is no rot on the truck, anywhere! The dash is nice and is complete with a complete radio and gauges. The is one or two gauges missing from the original gauge panel. The glove box door is intact but the original cardboard glove box is going to need to be replaced. The seat cover looks to have been recovered at one point and still is in good shape. It is dirty though. The rubber is all cracked and brittle throughout the entire truck. It will all have to be replaced. There is a heater that is all hooked up in the truck. All in all this is a very nice original survivor truck, it is far from being perfect but if you are a fan of vintage trucks like I am, this one is pretty cool and unique. The Pilothouse truck is a very desirable and roomy truck! The Dodge can either be left the way it is and made road worthy again or this is also a great example of a truck that can be restored if that route was chosen. This is an inoperable truck. The brakes do not work and the truck does not run. So please keep this in mind while shipping arrangements are being made. I have a clean and clear Nevada title for the 1948 Dodge in my name! Please contact me with any and all questions that you might have before bidding on the truck. I can store the truck for only a maximum of 1 month. My phone number is 775-830-6760. Thanks for looking!
