Vehicle Detail
The body on this car is one of the most solid first generation Mustangs that I've ever seen, and I look at these things every day. I've gone over (and under!) this car with a fine-tooth comb and I guarantee that ALL of the sheetmetal on the body is original to this car. That means that the floors have never been replaced, the quarters have never been replaced, the rockers have never been replaced, nor any other piece of sheetmetal that I can tell. This is one incredibly solid car! There are some good photos in the group below that sight down the bottoms of the rockers and you can tell that they're obviously near perfect. The floors are also extremely solid with only a couple small areas that I noticed. There is a small rust spot in the right rear floorboard but its so small that you'd have a hard time getting a #2 pencil through the hole. This should be visible in one of the photos below. Also, the left front floorboard seems to be a little soft right in the corner where it turns to go up the toeboard (also visible in one of the photos below) but neither of these areas are enough to cause alarm, nor would they warrant any kind of major work. Everything else seems to be solid as can be. There are also a couple of other things I noticed on the body that should be mentioned here. First, the hood has some imperfections in it that I have tried my best to show in the photos below. My best guess is that someone probably sandblasted the hood many years ago and warped it. These places are definitely fixable and they really don't detract from the overall good looks of the car, but I want to be sure that any potential buyers realize they're there. There is also some waviness in the taillight panel around the gas filler, almost like someone leaned on the gas cap really hard. Again, it doesn't really take away much from the overall presentation of the car but its still there nonetheless. The other item worthy of mention is that the original lead seams where the quarters join the C-pillars (at the front corners of the trunk lid) are showing slightly. These places are certainly NOT major defects in the paint, but more likely the result of minor paint shrinkage over the years. The condition of the paint itself is overall very nice, especially considering that its over 20 years old. Other than the previously mentioned places there are only a few small nicks and chips here and there. This was obviously a very high quality paint job when it was done because its held up so well over the years and still looks fantastic. Honestly it could pass for a car that was painted within the last year!
