Vehicle Detail

1983 Toyota FJ60 Landcruiser. I'll try and be as honest as I can, I'll probably make it sound like a piece of junk, but it's not. This FJ has been used around my farm and as a commuter to drive into town for work. I don't drive it much though and my wife wants a Jeep (convertible) so it's time to let it go. I haven't owned it very long, but it's been really handy for the time (winter and a muddy spring) I've had it. I've used it to pull trailers and pull out stuck vehicles. The 4wd works great and it's flat out amazing in the mud and snow. The locking hubs work excellent, as does the low range. There are a couple rust areas, but overall it's not too bad. Worst is around the passenger side rear wheel arch. I replaced all the battery cables and ground straps, running 1/0 gauge wires for the big ones. and installed military style battery terminals. I just put a new Gates water pump on it along with a new Stant radiator cap. It has A/C but I've honestly never tried it out. I removed all the smog equipment, and kept it in case a future owner would want to attempt to reinstall it. I think I did a pretty good job on the desmog, as I'm down to only 1 vacuum line for the carb. The carb is a Motorcraft 2150 of a Ford LTD. It still has the tag for future ID, and I rebuilt the carb with a quality kit. I made a custom adapter so I could use most of the factory Toyota linkage for the carb instead of a cable. It's currently running the automatic choke, but it needs some adjusting still. I'm also not sure that the accelerator pump is timed just right. I planned to hook the factory choke cable up, but just haven't had time. The airbox is from a Cadillac with a good Wix filter. The headliner is in rough shape, but it's not as bad as some I've seen. I have a CD player in the dash. It works, and I have another one of the exact same model as a spare (but only one faceplate, original one was stolen, hence the spare...). It looks like someone has rewired the stereo system to include ground wires for the speakers, which I think are Clarion. Dash has some cracks in it as well as some Land Cruiser club stickers. The windshield has a crack in it, but it's not bad (read as: not on the driver's side). The driver's seat has wear from getting in and out for 30+ years. All the windows roll down (by hand), I think locks all work but I can't say for sure as I've never actually locked it. Has a 2" receiver hitch. Needs a rear window wiper. I've never tried the rear wiper to see if it works since I don't have a blade on it and didn't want to scratch the window. Passenger side mirror is kinda loose. All the gauges work except the temp gauge. A mouse ate the wiring on it, and I still need to fix it. If someone is planning to drive it home I'll be sure to fix it first just to give them a little better peace of mind. The guage used to work before the mouse got it. All the lights work, except for the front marker lights on the side of the fenders. There aren't any sockets in them (I sealed up the wiring with heat shrink). I don't think the horns work. There is a dent in the rear bumper. Has new fluids in the differentials, transfer case, and transmission (Redline good quality fluids). The throwout bearing makes a little noise, but it's not too bad. Previous owner claims he just put brakes on it before I got it last fall. I don't know if the rear seat heater works or not, haven't tried it. It is missing the tailpipe behind the muffler. Could probably use a set of shocks in the near future. It has a clean title in my name. I have a plastic tub with extra parts (some new) that will go along with it. Overall it's a decent 'cruiser that's been fun to drive and tinker on. Contact me with any questions and I'll try and get them answered quick.
