Vehicle Detail
1977 Jeep J-10 Honcho Levi Edition Hello again in eBay land! You have got to see this.. I found an incredibly original Jeep Honcho. The last time this car was registered was 1992. It has been sitting for all these years just waiting for a new life. It is wearing 100% of its original paint. Yes there is patina and I like it that way. Someone else may want to paint it. I would keep it like this but the new owner may go a different direction. I found the sticker package online too so maybe you just do that? The hood is the only really bad part where the paint has really faded. I found the truck in the back of a Subaru dealership. They must have had one of those push, pull, or drag it in sales. What caught my attention was how original the truck was. The truck is all stock right down to the radio. The truck had not been started in 22 years at least. The carb was totally off of the car and just sitting on the manifold. The story is that the owner had carb troubles and took it off to rebuild it or replace it and then never did. Just never got around to it I guess. So, the J-10 Just sat there. I convinced the manager to sell me the truck. I got a tow strap and towed it home. The next morning I dropped the gas tank and had it cleaned and sealed. I ordered a 600 Edelbrock carb and bolted it on with an inch riser. I also installed a new battery. Next, I ran a clean can of gasoline straight to the carb and turned over the engine. The Jeep fired instantly. It ran smooth and strong with no tuning right from the start.. I got the tank back and installed in the Honcho and I also replaced all the fuel lines too. I opted for a performance electric fuel pump because I like them more than the mechanical ones. Other than that and the carb, she is all factory stock. The truck really runs well considering how long it just waited around. Not much smoke ever no leaks to speak of. Steady and even power. I washed and waxed the truck. The paint is actually in good shape except for the hood that has some bare spots. The stickers look like alligator skin but definitely give it an experienced look. As I mentioned, the stickers are available in the aftermarket and that would be a fun DIY project. Next I bolted on the slotted Jeep mags The wheels and tires I had waiting around for something.. I am happy that this truck came along as they may have sat around forever otherwise. They are 1977 vintage and have a decent set of matching tires on them too. They look great on the truck. The brakes work perfectly and have no issues with sticking or pulsing either. Once I got all of this accomplished it was time for a test drive. The Jeep not only runs well, but it drives well too. I was definitely impressed with how well the Honcho came out of her slumber. The transmission shifts well and the full time 4X4 is ready for anything and working as it should in all settings. Notice the locking diff in the glove box pic. The truck is sold with very little rust to speak of. What it has, I pictured. Under the driver’s door is the worst of it. The floors are totally solid and original. The windows roll up and down easily, the blinkers and tail lights and even the reverse lights work great. The power steering is tight with very little play in the wheel. The Levi Edition interior is a really cool feature of this Jeep. I don’t think many were ordered this way and it certainly makes this a rare example. Again, it is totally original and showing some signs of age. The tops of the seats are split open and the blue carpet is in need or replacement too. If the truck does not find an owner now I will go ahead and complete the interior and source the stickers and list it again. Also, I would be willing to do some or all of this work for the buyer if he or she so desires. Just call me and we can discuss options. These Jeep J-10s are getting harder to come by as time goes on. This will be a great one to hold on to if you like nice original classic trucks. Bid with confidence.. This is a truck anyone would be proud of.
