Vehicle Detail
Updated (May 10th) with more detailed information (written by my mechanic who has worked on the car) 1979 Porsche 911SC for sale with factory sport seats. Moving on to other race related projects. Overall the car is in very nice shape, but will need a few things from the new owner. Engine and transmission were rebuilt a few years ago by Werkshop in Florida. The car was driven very little after that, we were told about 500 miles a year. There are a few minor oil drips from seals, but nothing major. (May 9th) The lower valve covers have been replaced with Hargett Precision 964 updated covers to stop the valve cover leak which is the biggest leak. It appears to have been a very thorough rebuild (detailed receipts included on rebuild). Previous owner work: Werkshop: Engine and transmission rebuild. Full motor rebuild, rings, bearings, rod bolts, nuts, case studs, gaskets, fuel filter, lines, hoses, etc. Tranny synchro rings and sleeves, new clutch, etc. $18,000 Paint: Car was originally a beige color from what we can find. The color change to green was done extremely well, not like most color changes were you can see the old color in jams, etc. It was a very high dollar job. All body seals were replaced, etc. We had our painted polish the car out to remove swirl marks etc and it came out very nicely. There is a good stack of receipts from the previous owner for a lot of parts, including pedal bushing kit, wiper bushings, body seals, E-brake parts, headlight relay kit (upgraded), bilstein shocks inserts, ball joints, fuel pump, control arm bushings, sway bar bushings, axles, wheel bearings, etc. The bulk of the car has been completely gone through fairly recently, which is quite astonishing to see on an SC. Recent work with current owner (last 8 months): Fuchs rims were completely refinished, along with new tires $3,500 Stereo: There was an obnoxious system in the car before, it was removed and simplified with a nice small amp, speakers, and head unit: $2,700 The aftermarket AC system that was installed was removed due to an extremely poor installation. Heater blower motor in the engine bay has been removed, but could be reinstalled easily if new owner wants to. It had been cobbled together with the AC install for some reason, so we just removed it since the car was not driven in winter. Upgraded 930 tie rod assemblies RS carpet kit Wevo short shifter installed with all new bushings 930 Style steering wheel Wiper switch Alignment Fabspeed Muffler and cat bypass pipe Fluid change Ignition switch and key Oil reservoir hose Hazard Switch RS door panels Set CO% Pop Off Valve Fuel Sending unit Rebuilt WUR from CIS flowtech Work needed: When we got the car, the interior had been dyed tan (poorly). We used Porsche surflex seat/dash paint/dye to return the interior to black. Unfortunately, the old dye job was so bad and too hard to remove/sand down, that the dash shows some paint stroke marks. It is also cracked in one place. My recommendation would be to pull the dash and send it to Rob Budd @ 928 leather restoration and have the dash recovered. Though not bad, the seats will either come with a new set of black sport seat covers that will need to be professionally installed, or we will possibly try to have them installed before the car leaves if time permits, but no guarantees on that. Car is sold as is, PPI's welcome.
