Vehicle Detail
We restored this car over the last year. It was a great candidate since it sat in a barn since 1964. It only has 33,000 miles on it and the interior was already in very good shape. The body was very straight and the only real rust on the entire car was across the back strip, behind the rear bumper. This was all replaced with metal. The interior has been given a strong scrubbing and after one more I think it will be 95% of original, clean. There are no rust holes on any part of the undercarriage. Mechanically, it started right up with some gas through the carburetor and the clutch and transmission seem excellent (it is a 3 on the tree, and I did drive it at least 10 miles). Of course, we did a million little things, like new tires, brakes, brake lines, etc. With the body being so strong to begin with, we did a nice paint job that came out really nice with just a few imperfections here and there. I bought all new chrome, except for the door handles, the top piece of the 3-piece grill, and the 5 grill teeth. I think it would be good, since the car is mostly done and ready to go, to list the things that we still haven't done: a) The muffler is hanging a little low, but is working fine b) It has a small leak in the gas tank and we tried to fix it, but it still leaks out all of the gas c) It has all the molding in stainless steel for the car, but I feel a few pieces should be mounted on better d) I think it needs a newer rug in the interior? e) Front hood need to be slightly aligned from side to side f) Maybe 10 other very small things, like getting the radio to work, etc. None of them are expensive too time-consuming, I juts can't think of them In closing, you're getting a very strong body, with a nice paint job, strong mechanics, and a very nice interior (heck) the headliner is original and in excellent condition. I listed this car for an inexpensive price since they are so unusual and I will be glad to store it or help in any way. Thanks for looking Matthew
