Vehicle Detail

I found this wayfarer in a widow's garage where it had been sat, not running, for 21 years in Fayetteville, Texas. This car was and is located 19 miles from where it was sold in 1950. Plates show last registration was in 1992. Texas requires annual registration, so that's where I come up with, the 21 years of sitting in the garage. Took off the head, added oil to the piston tops, pulled side covers, intake/exhaust, freed up the lifters, and started freeing up the block on battery power. Cleaned the cylinders, dropped oil pan and removed all the dried up oil and sludge from time. Put engine back together, rebuilt carburetor, cleaned fuel system out, boiled out fuel tank and sealed it. Cleaned out radiator. New ignition parts. She started right up on the first try. Holds 45 lbs oil pressure at idle cold. Went through brake system, rebuilt master cylinder, new brake flex lines to all wheels. New tires installed as the final step. Put her on the road, and she runs and drives fine. I have converted her to a 12 volt system, and all the lights, bells, whistles, and gauges are all working fine. Put a voltage reducer on the fuel gauge to read correctly and has a new tank sending unit. I have not touched the interior, other than a cleaning, looks to be original. The prior owner had removed the radio, but I have it, and all the parts to it, knobs, etc. It was removed to install an aftermarket heater, replacing the original, which I image failed after 40 years or so. They probably didnt think to just have the core repaired. No I didnt find the original water flow heater assembly and blower. Has factory jack, spare, and lug wrench. The car was repainted at some point in the past. Heirs did not know when. Paint is in good shape, needs some touch up in small spots only. Stainless trim needs some shaping work to restore. Bumpers and grille are in good condition. The car exterior looks as nice as it appears in the photos. To really be nice, it needs an interior job. What you have is a nice looking 1950 2 door sedan thats starts right up, drives nice, rides nice......has a old car flow to the ride, in good mechanical condition. Priced right for it's condition.
